How To Get Gear 2nd
Getting to unlock Gear 2nd is a lengthy one so we hope you’ve got your patience and skills to the fullest! Here are the steps that you’ll have to do to unlock Gear 2nd:
- Get Mysterious Book drop from Kraken.
- Defeat Pharaoh Akshan.
- Defeat Gecko Moria.
- Defeat Donmingo.
- Defeat Lucy in the Colosseum.
- Defeat 10 Krakens.
- Go to Raylo at Dressrosa.
- Unlock Gear 2.

Get Mysterious Book drop from Kraken
In order to start the quest, you need to you’ll need the Mysterious Book and the Gomu Gomu no Mi Devil Fruit. You can get the Mysterious Book by killing a Kraken. They are Sea Beasts located in the Rough Waters South of Desert Kingdom. You can begin the quest to unlock Gear 2nd as soon as you have both items.
Defeat Pharaoh Akshan
After obtaining the mysterious book, proceed to the Desert Kingdom and interact with the Poneglyph near Sharima. This will then ask you to defeat Pharaoh Akshan.
You can summon Pharaoh Akshan by gathering the Heart of Sol, the Cup of Vedas, and the Seer of Zaro, the three artifacts. These can be found in the cities of Zaro, Vedas and Sol respectively. You can then place the artifacts to their respective slots in the statue located at the left of the Pharaoh’s Castle.
A notification would then appear that indicates “The Pharaoh has returned”. He will then spawn inside the castle where you could defeat him. After you defeat Akshan, go back to the Desert Kingdom Poneglyph. It will then instruct you to go to Thriller Bark.
Defeat Gecko Moria
Upon arriving in Thriller Bark, interact with the Poneglyph. It will instruct you to defeat the wielder of Kage Kage no Mi or Gecko Moria. You don’t need to go someplace else as he’s just located in Thriller Bark.
Once defeated return to the Poneglyph and it will instruct you to interact with the Poneglyph in Dressrosa/Rose Kingdom.
Defeat Donmingo
You can go to Dressrosa/Rose Kingdom from Thriller Bark by summoning your boat and going south. If you have a Dressrosa Log Pose, you can also use this for better navigation.
Interact with the Dressrosa Poneglyph. It’s located in the back of Donmingo’s mansion. It will then instruct you to liberate the Rose Kingdom from the hands of Mingo.
To start the quest, defeat 4 Senor Pink enemies in various locations within Rose Kingdom. Once you’ve beaten them all, Pica will get angry and appear in the forest at the back of the island. Defeating Pica is necessary to trigger the appearance of Donmingo. After defeating Pica, wait for 15 minutes for Donmingo to show up at the mansion.
He will spawn near his mansion, located in the forest. Proceed there and a cutscene will play at his arrival. Defeat him and go back to the Rose Kingdom Poneglyph.
Defeat Lucy
The Poneglyph will give you a task to go to the Colosseum of Arc, interact with the Poneglyph there. This Colosseum is located northwest of Dressrosa.
It will then ask you to go back to Rose Kingdom’s Colloseum.
Prove your worth among gladiators. There will be 10 waves of enemies and raid bosses waiting for you in the arena. The final boss would be Lucy, you need to deal at least 5% damage to him in order to complete the quest.
NOTE: The Colosseum raid can only be accessed on public servers and requires a minimum of two players to initiate the raid
Once defeated go back to Dressrosa Poneglyph, it will now ask you to go to Spirit Island.
Defeat 10 Krakens
Interact with the Spirit Island Poneglyph, once again it will give you a task. Defeat 10 Krakens to complete the quest.
After defeating the Krakens, you will need to go back to the Spirit Island Poneglyph. It will ask you to go back to Dressrosa Kingdom.
Obtain Gear 2nd
Finally, once back to the Dressrosa Kingdom, talk to the NPC near the Poneglyph named Raylo. He will then give you the Gear 2nd after a few conversations.
And there you have it! The arduous and long task is now complete. You have now obtained the Gear 2nd for the Gomu Gomu Fruit.
