That locked door in the Rebel Camp isn’t as mysterious as it wants you to think. Here’s how to open it.

You’re in the Rebel Camp, exploring Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and suddenly—bam—a locked door stares you down with a cryptic message: “Heed the teachings of the Primordial Deity to unlock this gate.” At first, I thought I missed some side quest, a forgotten ritual, or maybe even a rare emote I had to perform in front of it. Turns out, it’s not that deep. This guide is here to walk you through what the message actually means (spoiler: it’s a fancy way of saying open it from the other side), how to reach that side, and what to do once you’re there. Let’s break it down.

Heed the Teachings of the Primordial Deity to Unlock His Gate

Despite the grand wording, you don’t need a special item, spell, or boss soul. The “teaching” is just a hint: the door must be opened from behind. That’s it.

This gate connects the Rebel Camp to the Cloudspire Outskirts, and once unlocked, becomes an incredibly useful shortcut between the two areas. It’s especially handy when prepping for upcoming bosses or just avoiding long walks back through enemy zones.

How to Reach the Gate’s Back Entrance

Alright, now let’s get you to the other side of that stubborn door (There’s a clip below if you want visual help):

  1. Start at the Rebel Camp Shrine
Climb down the ladder next to it.
  2. Turn Left and Move Forward
Handle the two enemies in your path.
  3. At the Path Split, Go Slightly Forward and Right
You’re on track if you pass a cooking pot on your left.
  4. Next Split: Take the Left Path
This brings you through a wooden gate into a snowy zone.
  5. Stay on the Right Side of the Path
Look for a faint red trail in the snow heading downhill to the right.
  6. Follow That Trail Into a Wooden-Fenced Alcove
This leads you straight to the back of the Primordial Deity Gate.
  7. Interact with the Gate
Yes, press the prompt. It doesn’t auto-open. You’ll trigger a short animation and the gate will now be unlocked from both sides.

Don’t Miss This: Open the Wooden Fence Gate Too

Right where you unlock the main gate, there’s also a wooden fence gate nearby. Open it!

This creates a shortcut directly to the Cloudspire Outskirts Shrine. It’s technically optional—but if you like avoiding long detours and respawning at closer checkpoints, this shortcut’s a game-changer.

Before unlocking the gate, I highly recommend defeating General of the North – Ai Nengqi, a boss located near the Rebel Camp. Not only is he in your way, but clearing him out will make the area around the back of the gate much safer.

To reach him:

  1. Head down the ladder left of the Rebel Camp shrine.
  2. Use the Rebel Key on the large wooden doors.
  3. Defeat Ai Nengqi.
  4. Once he’s down, you’re free to explore deeper.

Wrap-Up: Big Door, Small Trick

The Primordial Deity Gate may seem like a riddle wrapped in lore, but it’s really just a level design trick. The phrase “heed the teachings” is there to make you pause and explore, not to confuse you into thinking there’s some grand secret.

So, don’t overthink it. Walk around, open it from behind, and pat yourself on the back for unlocking one of the best shortcuts in this part of the game. It absolutely melts enemies in the early to mid game and is hands-down one of the most fun ways to play Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
