Fire and Vice is one of the many main quests in Hogwarts Legacy. This quest involves investigating the infamous Horntail Hall while dealing with the Poachers.
You will also be accompanied by Poppy Sweeting, and completing this quest will unlock further side quests from her.
This guide will walk you through the entirety of the quest and how to complete it.
How to Complete the Fire and Vice Quest

To obtain the quest, you need to complete Charles Rookwood’s Trial and reach level 19.
The quest will start after you meet and speak with Poppy at the quest marker north of the Forbidden Forest. Here’s what you should do:
Follow Poppy

After talking to Poppy about Highwing, the poachers’ den, and Horntail Hall, follow her further into the Forbidden Forest.
Upon following Poppy for quite a while, you will stop at what looks like a deserted Poachers camp. Use Revelio to reveal the objects you can interact with.
To progress the quest, you must investigate with a piece of Goblin Metal on a weapon rack behind the tent.
Speak to Poppy

After investigating the metal, head to Poppy and talk to her. Once you finish talking to Poppy, follow her until you reach a cliff overlooking a Poachers’ Encampment and a tent across a wooden bridge.
Head further down to reach the encampment.
Enter the Tent

There are two ways to enter the tent: one is by doing it stealthily and the other is by bombarding enemies with various spells.
If you decide to do this, stealthily cast Disillusionment then slowly petrify each of the Poachers. After clearing the area, cross the bridge and enter the tent.
Investigate Horntail Hall
Go inside the tent to find yourself inside Horntail Hall.
Cast Disillusionment, knock out the Poacher on the left near the door, then proceed to the path on the right and descend the stairs.
Below, you will find three enemies: two Loyalists and one Poacher. You can stealthily knock one out. This will alert the remaining two which you must then fight.
After defeating them, go to the end of the room to find a ladder leading you to the quest marker.
Once you reach the quest marker, speak to Poppy to trigger a cutscene where a chained dragon is being attacked by poachers.
After the cutscene, descend the stairs on the right, then pass through the door to the next area.
Collect the Dragon Egg
Go to the cage with a dragon egg and use Alohomora on the lock. With the egg in your possession, continue further east to reach the captive dragon.
Upon reaching the area where the captive dragon is held, you will have to fight against various Poachers and Ranrok’s Loyalists.
There will be two waves of enemies, and the last wave will have a Poacher Animagus. You can interrupt the Animagus by casting a Reducto spell with Depulso.
After defeating all enemies, cast Accio on the handle at the dragon’s base to free it.
A cutscene will play where another set of enemies will confront you, but with the help of the dragon’s breath, they will all turn to smithereens.
Your character will then use Incendio on the roof to let the dragon escape and allow you and Poppy to flee the area. The quest is then completed after talking to Poppy about the dragon’s breed and egg.
