How to Find a Permanent Source of Fuel Outside the City in Frostpunk 2

In Frostpunk 2, resources play an important role to ensure the survival of the city. And there is no bigger resource than oil. As part of the story, you will need to actually locate a permanent source of fuel so you can establish your fuel reserves.

However, the game doesn’t exactly point it out which can be a bit confusing for players. Not to worry, we have you sorted out. In this guide, we’ll show you the exact steps you need to follow to find this source outside the city. Let’s dive in!

How to Find a Permanent Source of Fuel Outside the City

You’ll have to find a permanent source of fuel as an objective in Chapter 1 of Frostpunk 2. So, first things first, you’ll need to establish a team that will help you find the source. To do this, you’ll need to build a Logistics District.

You can do this by selecting the Construction menu and placing one down. When you build one, you should notice that you’ll get Frostland Teams as an output.

Additionally, you’ll also be able to see all the Frostland Teams that you have currently available in the top right corner of your screen.

Once we’ve established that fact, zoom out so you can see the expanded map of the game’s world. Here, you’ll notice that you can send Expeditions to various new locations.

These Expeditions will help you establish possible resources that you can find.

Each Expedition will have a requirement of Frostland Teams. Generally, it is a good idea to send them to all these areas for resources eventually.

But if you’re only interested in finding a permanent source of fuel, then send the Expedition to the marker we’ve shown below. This is the Old Dreadnought, and you can find it west of New London.

After you send an Expedition, wait for the results. When completed, the Frostland Teams will find oil in the area as a permanent source.

Select the option for ‘We Found Oil’ so that you can proceed.

When you do so, you’ll be met with a menu where you need to make a choice for your teams. We suggest going with the Remove The Bodies option as this will help you get more fuel.

However, either option will allow you to proceed and complete the objective. Next, you’ll have tasks related to the Old Dreadnought so you can extract the precious resources.
