How To Find and Cook Food Early Game in Sons Of The Forest

You need to eat to survive!

I know some of you already know the video game, The Forest, and yes, the game was not as good as we expected when it comes to performance. There was a lot of bugs and glitches and anomalies in the game.

But the gameplay is pretty much acceptable to the fact that they nailed the survival part from needing to scavenge and loot stuff from the crashed airplane to hunting down animals and fish through the waters and cooking them by the fire just to satiate your hunger.

Today, were going to talk about how to find food and cook them in Sons of the Forest, developed by Endnight Games.

Sons Of The Forest: How To Find and Cook Food Early Game

#1 Get Raw Meat

A lot of meat! We do enjoy meat, but where can we find some?

There are other animals that you’ll encounter throughout the game, including chickens, lizards, deer, and even birds. These animals are all edible as long as you cook them over a hot fire.

First of all, it’s actually advantageous if you were spawned in an area with a lot of water because animals like to drink from it, making it easy to discover animals like a squirrel.

Because you reside next to a river or a reservoir, it is believed that there will be a lot of fish there.

But, even if you fish frequently in a lake or pond, you don’t need to be concerned because fish essentially just respawn for a specific period of time.

So, one of the fundamental skills you’ll need for food-hunting is your ability to craft, as you’ll need to do in this part in order to make a spear out of two sticks, some duct tape, and a knife.

Then click the cogwheel icon when you see it to instantly create your own finely crafted spear that you can use to hunt animals.

Even though the spear isn’t as strong as the other weapons you’ll encounter in the game, it still has its uses because you can use it to fight the monsters you’ll encounter in Sons of the Forest.

It won’t do much damage to them, but at least you’ll be prepared if they come to your settlement and attack you.

Since I’ve played the game before, some of you might not be aware that the spear is one of the throwable weapons. If a bird is hovering close to you, you can use the spear to throw it at it.

It’s challenging to pull off if you’re not used to the weapon, but with some practice, you might improve your aim and stability when throwing the spear.

Just a little bit of a tip: there are times that birds are lowering their altitude. You can also stab them upwards. There’s a chance some of them will fall down and that’s the time you can loot their corpse for meat and feathers.

#2 Start a Fire to Cook Meat

Of course, we don’t want to eat raw meat. If you keep doing that, your character will probably become ill since it is disgusting.

Therefore, to start a fire, gather some sticks, lay them on the ground, and then press “E” to light the fire.

As you may have previously gathered some meat and fish, just take them out of your inventory, toss them on the fire, and wait a little while for them to cook.

Then you can probably check on them in a minute or two to see if they’re cooked. Then you can start eating them to replenish your health and energy.

Cooking it might just take around 60 seconds or so, and you can actually tell if its cooked because the color of the meat changes.
