You will need to have Maui as a villager in the Valley, as well as have his Friendship Level reach level 2. This will allow you to get the quest “Burying the Eel”. In the quest, Maui asks you to, well, bury an eel. Which you do, and that will then cause Coconut Trees to sprout all over the area. That’s essentially all you need to do in order to get Coconuts and the trees. You can also move them around to wherever you want in the Valley.
