In Stardew Valley, crafting and upgrading your tools need a lot of resources. One of the most precious resources among them is hardwood.
As its name suggests, hardwood can be a bit hard to find compared to normal wood. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! In this guide, I’ll share with you how to get hardwood in Stardew Valley. So, keep reading!
How To Get Hardwood?
You already have all the basic requirements to get hardwood. But how can you find them? That is easier than you think. Here’s how.
- Method 1 – Chopping mahogany trees
- Method 2 – Cutting large stumps
- Method 3 – Cutting large logs
- Method 4 – Secret woods
- Method 5 – Breaking barrels in the mines
- Method 6 – Lumberjack profession
- Method 7 – From a gift by Robin
Method 1: Chopping Mahogany Trees
The first and most common way to find hardwood is by chopping mahogany trees.
You can easily find mahogany trees if you walk around. Their trunks are close to the burnt brick color.
If you find one, just cut it using your axe. Cheers! You found hardwood. ( you will probably get 8-13 hardwood by cutting one mahogany tree).
When you cut a mahogany tree, it will give you a mahogany seed. You can take it and plant it on your farm. In my own experience, I made a mahogany tree garden, so I was able to get more hardwood whenever I want.
Method 2- Cutting Large Stumps
The second method is also very easy.
You may have noticed, there are some large stumps on your farm, in the secret woods, and in the mines as well. Did you try to cut them using your normal axe? I have, But it didn’t work.
That is why I told you earlier to upgrade your normal axe to a copper axe or a better quality. Only then you can cut large stumps.
If you found a stump, cut them using your copper axe. Then you can get hardwood.
Method 3 – Cutting Large Logs
Thirdly, You can get hardwood by cutting large logs.
You need a steel axe or better one to cut large logs. Once you cut 1 large log, you can get 8 hardwood. This can be increased to 10 with the forester profession.
Large logs can be easily found in your farm, Cindersap forest, at the entrance of the secret woods as well.
Method 4 – In Secret Woods
Secret woods can be found in the northwest area of Cindersap forest. As I mentioned earlier, the entrance is blocked by a large log and you need to cut it using your steel axe or a better one. After that, you can enter the secret wood.
The secret woods have 6 large stumps. When you cut them daily, you can get 12 hardwood per day. So, keep in mind to cut the large stumps in the secret woods daily.
Method 5 – Breaking Barrels In The Mines
Have you ever tried to break the wooden barrels inside the mines? If it’s not, you need to.
When you go deep into the mines, there are some wooden barrels on some floors. You can break them using your sword or pickaxe. Then you can get some hardwood.
Method 6 – Lumberjack Profession
If you level up your foraging skills by gathering forage items and cutting trees, at level 10 you can choose a profession between lumberjack and tapper.
If you need to get more hardwood, I suggest you choose the Lumberjack profession. Because after you choose that, every tree you chopped has a chance to drop hardwood.
Method 7 – From Robin’s Gift
The Feast of the winter star, which is held on the 25th of the winter season, is another way to get hardwood.
At this festival, you need to give a gift to a particular villager. And you will also receive a gift from another one.
If your secret gift giver is Robin, the carpenter, you are lucky enough to get 25 hardwood from her.
