With Elden Ring Nightreign now available for everyone in the world, there has been a clear mixed reaction due to FromSoft dropping the ball on certain aspects of the coop experience. With that out of the way, old players of the original will still know how most of the game works, but there are definitely a few familiar things that they need to relearn.

Among these is how you can get smithing stones, as it is not as straightforward as you may think. Here is a guide on one way to quickly get some!

How To Get Smithing Stones In Elden Ring Nightreign

Basically, nomadic merchant spirits that can show up randomly on days one and two can sell you some of them in Limveld. They look just like the base merchants in the original game, except they are blue spirits.

These merchants typically hang out in village areas, but they can show up in various other spots too. It is mostly random, so you will just have to check the map to find them. They are often sitting beside a campfire, so you can’t miss them.

If you desperately need or want some smithing stones, consider splitting up so that your team can find them quickly. Since there is no communication system in the game outside of map markers, you will have to rely on random players being considerate enough to ping them for you.

One thing to note is that these merchants may not always offer the level of smithing stone that you desire. The common ones will be selling mainly just the cheap variants for regular items, which will only set you back a few thousand runes.

In certain spots, such as in villages, they have a chance of offering smithing stones that can be used on uncommon weapons. Those will cost 18000 runes for each piece. They can even sell those stone keys you use to open evergaols, and those items in particular are relatively cheap.

These merchants also typically have an anvil just a few steps away, so you can immediately use your smithing stones whenever you buy some from them.

There are also supposedly higher tier versions of it, though we are currently unsure of how you can get it consistently. The game is still in its infancy, and players are still figuring out all of its mechanics, which can be tough due to the developers’ penchant for being vague.

And that is everything we know so far when it comes to getting smithing stones in this spin-off of the critically acclaimed soulslike. While you are here, consider checking out our guide on how to invite your friends in Elden Ring Nightreign, because you are going to need a proper trio to efficiently clear each run of this coop focused experience!
