You will encounter numerous risks as you go on about the island, regardless if you have Kelvin with you or not. So, as an operator, you must be aware of and be able to recognize these risks to make sure that casualties stay at an all-time low.

Easy access to your shelter is a major risk, especially if you underestimate your enemy. This results in you sleeping forever as your hungry neighbors slowly turn you into beef jerky. What you need is an extra layer of security to mitigate that risk, like making a rope bridge! A tedious task no doubt but definitely worth the effort if built in the right place.

Sons Of The Forest – How To Make A Rope Bridge

Bridges have been around for quite a while now, a few thousand years ago you can even travel to different continents just by using a land bridge of some sort. Yes, it’s terrifying to cross over a large body of water on some rickety plywood but the rope bridge you’ll be making in Sons Of The Forest will be much more durable!

Before letting your bridge take shape you will need to go shopping for a few things to build the frame: ten logs, sixteen half logs, and two pieces of rope to be exact. Now get busy!

Now go prop up two logs opposite of each other and put a support beam on top. Put some more adjacent to those logs and they will automatically be placed in a slanted position.

Time to use those logs you cut into planks, approach the slanted bits of the bridge, and make sure the white lines you see are straight. To change the angle of those lines simply right-click on it as it shows.

If you put the logs down without changing the angle you’ll end up with a ramp instead!

That’s the basic shape you should have, now you’re ready to do it again on the other side!

It’s time to use the rope, get on top of the staircase you made and wait for the dotted lines to show.

When that happens run over to the other side to have it connected. You can cover a lot of ground with the rope you have so no need to worry if you need to clear a larger gap.

Do that again on the way back with the second set of rope that you have.

All you have to do now is lay down more half planks as you make your way back to the other side. The number of logs you’ll be using will depend on how long your bridge is going to be but the shopping list we gave you earlier for the staircase will always stay the same.

You can also try the blueprint the devs intended for you to use on your guidebook but most players have agreed that it has a lot of junk that just doesn’t work. It’s just a guide, after all, you don’t need to follow everything there by the letter so get creative!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
