How to Offer The Kiln a Worthy Sacrifice in PEAK 24 Karat Badge.

How to Offer The Kiln a Worthy Sacrifice in PEAK | 24 Karat Badge

When the game tells you to sacrifice something “worthy”… it’s not talking about your frisbee.

In PEAK, some badges are a simple matter of “do the thing, get the reward.” The 24 Karat Badge? Not so much. This one’s a multi-step treasure hunt wrapped in mystery, RNG, and a touch of parkour. The in-game clue is deliberately vague (“Offer the Kiln a worthy sacrifice”), and most players’ first instinct is to toss in whatever shiny or sentimental item they have lying around. Spoiler: the Kiln doesn’t care about your plush toys, frisbees, or even rare gems, it’s after something truly special.

That “something” is the Ancient Idol (or Golden Bing Bong, depending on who you ask), hidden deep in the Mesa biome’s Tomb. It’s heavy, it’s rare, and finding it is half the battle. In this guide, we’ll cover exactly what the “worthy sacrifice” is, how to get it, how to reach the Kiln without losing your mind, and the quirks you should know before attempting the run.

How to Offer The Kiln a Worthy Sacrifice | 24 Karat Badge

The “worthy sacrifice” is the Ancient Idol, a hefty golden statue tucked away in the Tomb, a secret underground area in the Mesa biome. But here’s the catch: the temple only has a 25% chance of being open when the daily seed is generated. That means you cannot just reroll your seed to get it open. It’s entirely up to how the devs generate the seed that day.

The Tomb itself is no walk in the park. Expect narrow, torch-lit passages, big open gaps, and the need for tools like the Parasol (to glide across ledges) and the Chain Launcher (to grapple over tricky spots). At the end of the path, you’ll find the Ancient Idol sitting on a slab, practically begging to be picked up. Once you have it, the real work begins, carrying it out.

How I Got Inside the Temple

On the seed where I was getting the badge, the entrance wasn’t available, so I used a glitch to get in through the exit. The entrance and exit always share the same location, but the 25% open rate means it’s often blocked.

Here’s how the glitch works:

  1. Find the boulder outside the exit — it has slightly different lighting than the others, especially noticeable at night.
  2. Stand at its base, hold Shift, and spam your backpack. This will push your character upward.
  3. Nudge slightly to the right, repeat the process, and eventually you’ll phase through.
  4. Lowering your FPS to 30 can make this easier.
Here’s a video on how to glitch into the Temple using the backpack trick to reach the Ancient Idol for the 24 Karat Badge in PEAK.

Once you’re inside, grab the idol and head back. On your way out, there’s a hidden trigger that makes the blocking boulder vanish. This is why videos claiming “the rock never moves” are wrong — it’s part of the intended design.

Intended Temple Route

When the temple entrance is open, the blocking boulder is gone and replaced by a drop-down hole (right across the glowing area at night). This leads into:

  • A rocky maze (which you can shortcut with certain items)
  • A parkour section — bring a chain launcher or mobility tools if you’re on harder terrain seeds
  • A climb to reach the idol

How to Trigger the 24 Karat Badge Requirement

After grabbing the idol, you head down to the Kiln level (area with magma and lava) where you’re supposed to complete the offering for the 24 Karat Badge. Since you’re invincible while carrying it, you can literally wade through Caldera’s lava ocean without a care.

  1. At the Kiln, approach the central magma pit.
  2. Toss the Ancient Idol in.
  3. Watch it burn.
  4. Enjoy the satisfying ping of the 24 Karat Badge unlocking.

Ancient Idol Effects

This item is seriously strong. It weighs 20, but as long as you’re holding it in your hands, you’re invincible to literally everything. You can walk in lava, land on cacti, fall from great heights, and even explode without taking a scratch.

I recommend pairing it with balloons for mobility, the balloon bunch weighs -6, and individual balloons are -2, so you can carry plenty without slowing down too much.

Old Entrance vs. New Entrance

Before the fix, the “blocked rock” entrance you might’ve seen in videos was actually the Tomb’s exit. The real entrance is connected to a hidden terrain structure under a hill, possibly linked to a future surface pitfall. Whether it’s random, condition-based, or not fully implemented yet is still a mystery, but for now, keep an eye out for that floor hole.

Odd Glitches (a.k.a. “The Worm Express”)

During testing, a worm attack plus some well-timed balloons launched me under the map and straight to the Tomb. Not recommended (or reproducible), but hey, it proved the Tomb’s internal layout matches the intended design.

A Note on Bugs and Hotfixes

The devs have had some… interesting moments with recent item-related achievements. For example, when the frisbee achievement first dropped earlier today, there was a bug where any item thrown counted as a frisbee, letting players unlock it instantly with random junk. After the “fix,” they accidentally made it impossible to meet the new condition in the code. (Yep, they didn’t test it before releasing it, classic.)

The same sort of logic issue affects the 24 Karat Badge. Contrary to what some players think, the flag preventing the idol from being burnable isn’t tied to whether the Tomb spawns in your seed. There’s actually nothing in the code that ever sets that flag to true — it’s always false, even on seeds where the Tomb is already unlocked (like seed 6).

Wrap-Up: Something Worthy ; )

The 24 Karat Badge is one of the most satisfying challenges in PEAK, not because it’s hard in combat terms, but because it makes you work for every step. You’ll need luck for the Tomb spawn, skill to navigate it, and patience to lug that massive golden idol all the way to the Kiln. But when you hear that badge unlock chime, it’s pure bragging rights.

And if anyone asks what you sacrificed? Just smile and say: “Something worthy.” Up next, if you still haven’t earned the Megaentomology Badge, check out my guide on how to get it. All you need to do is survive an Antlion attack, easy… right?
