Ever stumbled across a Signpost left by another player, like “Master Ma says move some rocks!”, and wondered how to leave one of your own? Where Winds Meet isn’t just about combat and exploration. It borrows a lot of Soulslike inspiration, including the ability to leave messages for other players. These are called Signposts, and they’re perfect for helping, warning, or just trolling your fellow adventurers.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to place a Signpost, what it does, and what to do if you run out of them, so your mark on the world isn’t wasted.
How to Place a Signpost
Placing a Signpost is simple once you know where to look:
- Open the Chatbox
- PC: Press Enter.
- Gamepad: Press Select/View (the two-window button on Xbox) + right stick click.
- Navigate to Notices
This shows system messages, replies, and likes in Online mode. It’s also where you’ll manage your Signposts. - Go to My Signpost
Here you’ll see any Signposts you’ve left behind. If you haven’t placed one yet:- Make sure you have a Signpost in your inventory.
- New players start with 10 Signposts.
- Select Place, type your message, and drop it for others to see.
Tips for Signposts
- Only one Signpost can be active at a time. Placing it uses one item from your inventory.
- Messages are auto-translated, so English players can read posts from Chinese players, and vice versa.
- Unlike some Soulslike games, you can basically write anything, be helpful, cryptic, or humorous!
Running Out of Signposts?

If you use them all, don’t panic. You can get more by:
- Purchasing for 450 gold each at:
- Xiong Da, Peddler at Heaven’s Pier, Qinghe
- Wang’s Woodcraft, Kaifeng City
- Hu Niu’er’s General Goods, Kaifeng City
- Crafting (cheaper):
- Each Signpost requires 2 Timber + 1 Raw Ore
Why Use Signposts?
- Warn other players of danger (like bandits or traps).
- Share puzzle hints, treasure locations, or funny messages.
- Leave your mark in the world, it’s like a mini social hub while exploring.
Even if you’re mostly soloing, leaving Signposts adds a little flavor and interaction to the world.
