Released in 2018, Overcooked 2 is one of the most famous local co-op titles notable for its unusual approach towards cooking simulator games.  If you’re wondering is it possible to play Overcooked 2 with your friends who play it on a different device than you, stick around, and you’ll find out shortly.

Overcooked 2: How To Play Cross Platform

PC (Steam)

If you own this game on Steam and you’d like to play it cross-platform, you won’t be able to do it by default. Luckily, there is a workaround that allows you to do so, and here‘s how.

First, head to your Steam library and right-click on the Overcooked 2 icon.

Right click, then click on properties.

Next, go to properties and find the “betas” option.

Switch from None to Cross-play

There, scroll down and select the “cross-play” option, and wait for it to download. Once it does, you’ll be able to play Overcooked 2 in cross-play.

Keep in mind that once you update to beta, the game won’t be compatible with the “default” version of the game, which means that each player needs to update to beta to be able to play in co-op.

Consoles

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to play Overcooked 2 in cross-play if you are a console user. However, you can purchase Overcooked! All You Can Eat, which is essentially Overcooked 1 & 2 fused into one game and completely overhauled for the current-gen consoles.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat features 4K at 60 FPS, allowing cross-play regardless of the device you’re playing on. You can buy Overcooked! All You Can Eat for your console on Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo.
