While Elden Ring: Nightreign is primarily meant to be played in trios, it’s actually possible to play Solo Expeditions as well. These can be quite challenging, but they have their own charms. For example, they can be a nice way to mess around in the game without worrying about working with other players. Anyway, we’ll tell you how to play this mode, no matter your reasons for choosing it!

How To Switch To Solo Expeditions | Elden Ring: Nightreign

You can change the game mode to Solo Expeditions by going to the Expeditions menu in the Roundtable Hold. Either select it from the options menu or just interact with the large site of Grace. Once there, you just need to press RB (Xbox), R1 (PlayStation), or F2 (PC). It will take you to the Matchmaking Settings tab.

In the Matchmaking Settings tab, go all the way to the bottom and you should see the Expedition Type setting. Select it and you can switch it to Single Player!

After that, just press LB (Xbox), L1 (PlayStation), or F1 (PC) to return to the Target menu. As you can see now, you’ll get a prompt saying Commence Solo Expedition. Just select which Nightlord you wish to hunt down and accept to start the Expedition!

We do want to note, however, that you don’t get the character selection screen when you accept to start a Solo Expedition. This is unlike how it works when playing multiplayer, so you’ll need to swap to the Nightfarer you want to play beforehand.

Nonetheless, that’s all you need to do to play Solo Expeditions in Elden Ring: Nightreign. Be warned, though, that solo mode is currently quite a challenge! We wish you the best of luck with it, the Nightlords are no joke…

Of course, if you end up wanting to play multiplayer again, you just need to switch it back in the Matchmaking Settings menu. On that topic, it’s a good idea to know how to invite your friends if you wish to partake in some jolly co-ooperation.

Gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
