You start off easier in Sons Of The Forest, instead of being a dad who crash-lands back into the earth for choosing the economy class you’re now an elite team of expendable grunts searching for an unnamed billionaire that may have already kicked the bucket weeks before your arrival.

That doesn’t save you from suffering the same fate though, so now you’re in a hurry to get better housing to protect yourself from the locals who’re eager to see the color of your insides.

A house is not a home until you have good flooring so let’s start with the foundation!

If you want to graduate from sleeping underneath a plastic bag and some sticks then a log cabin is the next best thing that will offer you the best protection that you need from your neighbors who can’t keep their hands to themselves.

The first order of business is to plop down the logs on the spot where you want to build your base.

If you’re aiming for a bigger build right off the bat then make sure there’s a log in the middle of what you’re building. You’ll find out more in a bit!

Bring in some more wood and wait for the dotted lines to split apart just like in the image above. I say wait but you actually have to position yourself right above where the floor is going to be.

Don’t worry it’s not difficult, you’ll immediately notice the animation once you’re in the right spot!

You will proceed to split the log in your hand with no wind-up whatsoever. Keep doing that while following the frame that you made and you will have wooden floors in no time, try to avoid getting splinters while you’re at it!
