Players tend to keep an eye out on their food bar to make sure it’s nice and filled up, or else they might suffer the effects of starvation. Where to Get Food

There are a few ways to get food in DayZ. The first one is by searching the residentially area. The area there is chock full of food sometimes, whether it’s rotten or still good. You will have to search every surface of this area though, as sometimes there are food laying out in the open. You should also consider checking greenhouses, which some houses have. But do be careful, as there are zombies.

Speaking of zombies, sometimes zombies have food on them (as well as other materials). You can take on zombies with your bare hands, but it might prove to be dangerous if you aren’t careful. However, if you can take them down, then you can find some pretty good resources from them, including food. Just don’t make it a habit, as zombies are highly unpredictable and you might end up fighting too many.

If you can’t find any food near you, then you’re going to have to resort to the wildlife. Animals like chickens can drop food if you kill them. The bigger the animal, the more meat you can get from their bodies. But, the bigger the animal, the more difficult it is to kill them. It’s recommended to have a gun when dealing with larger animals, but your fists are good enough for small animals. 

Fishing is also another way to get some food. The water is full of fish, and you just need a makeshift fishing rod to get them. However, you should only do it during the mornings and evenings, as the afternoon, when the sun is high, the fish will go to the bottom of the water, making fishing a little more difficult.

How to Stack Food

Stacking food is essentially picking up food when you’re on the move, not literally stacking food on top of each other in your inventory. If you are the type that keeps moving, then stacking is what you might be doing all the time, as staying in one place for too long can attract unwanted attention.

The best way to stack food is by looking for fruit trees. They are everywhere in DayZ, and you can find them just by looking at the ground and finding fruits that dropped from the tree. This is the best way to stack food, as you can essentially go on forever if you find the right path for fruit trees.
