How To Unlock Metal Flower Ability | Horizon Forbidden West

They certainly would make for an interesting Valentine’s Day gift!

Horizon: Forbidden West sees Aloy through another gripping adventure through the new world.  Players are treated to an immersive experience like no other, quantified by upgraded graphics and more quality-of-life upgrades from the previous game.

While the sights and sounds are enough to whisk you away to a new world, it’s the questlines that will seal the deal for you, offering insane amounts of lore and information to go through.

Progressing through the story, you might have encountered a shrub or two of the annoyingly strong Metal Flowers that pepper some pathways.  If you’re tired of getting blocked from progression by these pesky vines, this guide is perfect for you!

How To Unlock Metal Flower Ability – Horizon Forbidden West

For this particular plant, you will need to unlock a device called Vine Cutter.  This attaches to Aloy’s spear and automatically becomes available once you reach a certain point in your main quest.  Roughly around the time you hit level 24, you should be able to get the quest Seeds of the Past

You would need to complete this quest first before you can unlock the Vine Cutter.  Once you have it, it automatically attaches itself to Aloy’s spear and you’re now ready to trim down some Metal flowers.  Simply hit a flower thrice using your R1 button and wait for it to open.

Once the flower is open, hit it again to cut away the vines.   This then unblocks the path and you’ll be able to proceed past places that might contain collectibles and other valuables you didn’t have access to before.
