After spending way too much time testing, transforming, and accidentally wasting skill points (RIP my old transformation build), I finally got my hands on the new Soul Manipulation rework in Jujutsu Infinite. And honestly? It’s looking cleaner, faster, and way flashier than before… but there’s a catch. In this guide, I’ll break down everything new in the Soul Manipulation rework, from upgraded visuals and new move mechanics to its Maximum form and Domain Expansion. We’ll also talk about how to get the new Maximum, my honest opinion on whether it’s worth using (or re-rolling), and of course, those juicy new code drops.
New Special Grade Soul Manipulation Rework Update & Guide
What’s new in the Soul Manipulation Rework? The Soul Manipulation kit has always had solid potential, but the rework brings it up to modern standards with new VFX, SFX, and mode-based transformations. Here’s the full move-by-move breakdown:

Soul Manipulation Rework Move Breakdown
For a better look at the visuals, I’ve included clips below.
Deform Fist (Reworked VFX + SFX)
Still the same giant punch move, but now with updated sound and visual effects. It slams hard, around 16K damage in my test, and feels a lot smoother than the old version. Think “The Thing” punch from ABA, but with more cursed energy.
Blade Rush (Cinematic Combo Upgrade)
Turns your hands into spinning soul blades and dashes forward in a slicing tornado. With the rework, it now summons multiple bladed limbs, and the grab mechanic is way more accurate. Super good for chaining combos and closing distance.
Soul Touch (Reworked Counter → Direct Teleport)
Originally a counter, but now it works differently in Domain or Maximum mode, you teleport directly to the enemy and explode them with a soul touch. It’s slick, fast, and extremely satisfying when used mid-combo.
Flesh Drill (aka “Blazing Bless”)
Got a full visual overhaul. The new charging animation is clean and supposedly does damage while charging, though I had mixed results (might be buggy right now). Either way, it’s leagues better than the old dry version.
Distorted Inflation (Ground & Air Variants)
Now with two forms:
- Ground Variant: You become a massive, spiky ball of destruction.
- Air Variant: You summon a cursed monster worm from above. It’s freaky in all the right ways, straight horror anime vibes.
- Just be aware: you have to hold it to charge, and I’m still not sure if it can be interrupted.
Polymorphic Soul
Functionally the same, but with updated visuals. You summon a cursed humanoid spirit to fight with you (Isomer). It still has that heart symbol, and might interact with Soul Touch for a guaranteed pop, but I’m not sure.
Maximum Instant Spirit Body – All Move Changes
Here’s where Soul Manipulation actually goes wild. Once you activate your Maximum Form, four of your core moves transform and get buffed:
- Deform Fist → Axe Kick with a ground smash + debris
- Blade Rush → Includes a cinematic finisher with a stomp
- Soul Touch → Instant teleport & explosion on contact
- Flesh Drill → Turns into a rapid-hitting combo extender
- Stat Buff: 25% more damage, 10% hitbox increase, and 50% more movement speed
Visually? Peak cursed energy. Functionally? Super satisfying and high-speed. This mode is by far the highlight of the rework.
Domain Expansion – Self-Embodiment of Perfection
The Domain Expansion now has an improved cutscene and animation, it legit gave me goosebumps the first time I used it.
While the core effect is the same (buffed damage inside domain), Soul Touch changes here too. It becomes instant-cast, and enemies just pop when you use it. Also buffs your Distorted Inflation variants, which is a nice touch.
Is It Worth Using? Honest Thoughts
Now here’s the truth: The rework definitely made Soul Manipulation better. It’s flashier, smoother, and has more mechanical potential than before. But… it’s still not meta-defining.
Compared to other Special Grade Innates like Star Rage, Infinity, or Curse Queen, Soul Manipulation still feels like it’s missing something, either in raw utility or burst potential. If you’re lucky enough to roll it and don’t want to risk losing it to a worse trait? Sure, keep it. It’s stylish, decent, and fun to use.
But if you’re aiming for PvP dominance or leaderboard flexing, there are stronger options out there.

How To Get Maximum for Free
If you’re not Special Grade yet, don’t panic. Once you hit Level 360 and complete Story Mode, you’ll get one free Maximum Scroll. So don’t waste Robux or reroll scrolls yet, just play the game and unlock it naturally. I made the mistake of spending a bunch early on… and now I’m stuck waiting as a Grade 3. Learn from me.
Wrap-Up: Final Verdict
Soul Manipulation’s rework in Jujutsu Infinite is a solid win for style and mid-tier power. The upgraded visuals, the new form changes, and that Maximum form animation are all top-tier. But in the current meta, it’s still more of a fun build than a top-tier one.
So if you get it, enjoy the glow-up, and if you’re rerolling, just know what you’re giving up. Let me know what you think! Planning to keep Soul Manipulation? Or are you holding out for something stronger?
