MARVEL Snap is the latest and newest card game where you will be able to play as your favorite childhood super heroes while controlling them in a card game. In this guide, we will be giving you the most important thing you’ll need to know – a Complete Beginner’s Guide to Marvel Snap. Let’s get started.

Complete Beginner’s Guide – Marvel Snap

When you’re just starting out, you should make sure your decks are just as simple as possible. You won’t get very far in the game if you’re confused. So, having a few good cards will make everything easier.

With that being said, let’s go over the most important things you’ll need to know.

Game Mechanics

In Snap, the goal of each game is to control at least two of the three “Locations” on the field. The one and only manner to accomplish this is to summon cards in each Location and get more power in each Location than your opponent.

So every match has six turns. The goal is to achieve more power than your opponent at the end of the sixth when the scores are added up and the winner is decided.

In this game, there is one small difference: both players set down cards on their opposite sides of the board at the same time. Each player can call up however many cards as they possess energy for, based on how much they have saved.

Also, they begin with one amount of energy on their first turn. Like in Hearthstone, they get an extra point on every turn after that.

When both players have put down all of their cards and ended their turns, the cards are flipped over and shown to the other player in the same order that they were put down. At this time, any effects and interactions of the cards that are important take place.

Locations Explained

The Location system is another thing that makes MARVEL Snaps unique. It consists of three cards that are placed in the center of the field at the start of every match. These cards show different places and zones in the MARVEL universe.

Each one has its own traits and properties that can change the power and function of any card that is put there. Also, many player cards interact with certain Locations, which adds an additional layer of strategy toward where and when you put your cards on the field.

Before you put your own units in a location, you should learn as much as you can about it. Location cards can have both good and bad effects on you.

For example, there may be places where you can’t put certain cards or places that auto close and stop you from putting cards in them after a certain turn. Also, putting some of your own cards in certain Locations can make them do different things.

And while you can put cards on any Location, whether it’s been discovered or not, you very often run the risk of a play backfiring because of the effects of a Location that is revealed later during the game.

Snap & Retreat Mechanic

In MARVEL Snap, you make most of your money by playing mind games. The Snap mechanic just makes this point even stronger.

But don’t worry, if you lose a Snap, you can always just leave the game. You’ll lose the initial entry fee, but you won’t lose any more Cubes because the stakes are higher.

You could always quit a match early, or prior to the sixth turn, to avoid losing a lot of Cubes.

Upgrade Your Cards

You’ll be given several sets of cards after your first game. There’s going to be a way to “upgrade” your cards, though. When you upgrade a card, it grows stronger as a whole. And when you’ve reached your maximum number of upgrades, you can wipe out your opponents.

Do Your Missions

Another thing you may have not thought about is that, like all games, Marvel Snap will have missions that you have to do to move forward. Do not skip on them since they give you lots of good rewards

Those are the most important things to know about how this game works and how you’re able to get a better start if you are a beginner. We hope that this guide has helped you out with it. Have fun!
