Millennia: How To Transport & Embark Units

Transport your army and rule them all!

Build an army, create a settlement, and conquer enemies in Millennia. In this historical turn-based game, you can handpick your troops and move your units across nations in a conquering spree. With such a complex game, the learning curve for most features can be steep. If you’re having trouble figuring out how to transport and embark units in Millennia, this guide will show you how.

Transport and Embark Units – Explained

Millennia uses ships as its main mode of transportation. Bigger armies will need ships with larger carrying capacities, and more people means more ships are needed. This means that you need to unlock marine transport first before you can navigate the seas.

Unlock Shipbuilding

To transport troops by water, it’s important to research the Shipbuilding technology during the Bronze Age. After you’ve done that, there are two requirements you have to meet to find the option to move your army.

The two requirements to unlock Shipbuilding are:

  1. Movement points have to be greater or equal to 10.
  2. Adjacent tile is Shallow water.

If you’ve met both of these requirements, the option to “Load to Transport” should appear above the units’ portraits.

Additional Tips

What may be confusing is that you won’t find water marked as “Shallow” in the game. Instead, the game refers to these as “regular” waters. This is where you want to be loading your units.
