Moonstone Island is a brand-new game that combines Pokemon with popular farming games such as Stardew Valley. The game is essentially a creature-collecting life simulation game in which you can explore a massive open world containing 100 islands.

For those that are getting started with the game, they might have slight difficulty getting used to the mechanics. This guide will highlight some important tips and tricks that can make your experience more enjoyable.

8 Beginner Tips & Tricks

This guide will be divided into different sections, showcasing all 8 tips and tricks that you may find helpful when playing the game!

Selecting Starting Spirit

This is not really a beginner’s tip but for starters who want to begin a fresh game after learning all the basics. Such players might be tempted to skip the tutorial when starting a new save, but we highly recommend not doing so.

The reason for this is that if you skip the tutorial, then you won’t be able to choose your Starting Spirit. Instead, you will simply be assigned a random spirit that might not be the one that you want.

First Night

When starting the game, you will begin on a broom flying around, and it will end up breaking. This will cause the character to crash land on the island. The game will then suggest that you should look around for your tools and seeds.

Since your Stamina Bar will be full, we recommend that you explore. You will have until 2 am to explore, after which the game will proceed to the next day. Since your first quest is to provide 10 Stones to Ossono, we recommend collecting them during this time.

Simply pick up your hammer and start to smash things in your vicinity, and you might end up finding different treasures, such as Moonstones.

Moonstones

The final tip that we have for you involves Moonstones, which are a crucial part of in-game progression. This is because they are used to craft your Broom and other magical items.

Moreover, they are also used in the crafting of buildings such as Spirit Barn. Usually, you can find one Moonstone on every island that you visit.

Our recommendation is to try looking for these at night since they glow, which makes them easier to spot. These also respawn every season, so you should rack up a nice amount, provided that you have been exploring all the islands.

Keeping An Eye On Stamina

One of the most important aspects of this game is the Stamina Bar, which is what allows your character to perform different tasks. You need Stamina for almost every action in the game, such as Woodcutting, Fishing, or Mining.

Many beginners are unaware of where this bar is located. The image below shows the location of the Stamina Bar in the bottom left corner of the screen, just above your inventory. If your Stamina reaches zero, you will essentially pass out and wake up the next day.

You won’t be penalized severely, as the only consequence will be that you will wake up slightly later in the morning. Hence make sure to keep an eye on your stamina and prevent it from reaching zero.

Exploring & Warp Whistle

You can also explore other islands after starting the game, and it is pretty easy to do so. At the start of your first full day in the game, you will receive a letter that will contain the recipe for crafting a Balloon.

This is a great alternative to your Broom and costs only 3 Cloth. Cloth can be crafted from Fibre, which is prevalent on each island.

Using Balloon

Before rushing off to explore the world, we highly recommend finding the Warp Whistle. This can be found at the fountain towards the Northeast corner of the Town. The Warp Whistle essentially allows you to teleport back home from any location.

However, use this with caution since you will be limited to using it once per day. We recommend using it to get out of tight situations in the mine or the dungeon. It can also be used if you are far from the home island and it is getting late.

Something that many players are unaware of is the Spirit Gates that are found on the Home Island. There are two of these that can be found on the island, and you can get tokens from them to remove, upgrade, or add new cards to the Spirit Deck.

Stamina Regeneration

Continuing on from the previous tip, regenerating your Stamina is also important since this allows you to keep on working.

In the tutorial, Father will tell you that Stonefruit can be used for restoring Stamina. However, Stonefruit is sparse, so we do not recommend relying on it solely for stamina regeneration.

A really good alternative to restoring Stamina is to simply use the Hot Springs. This will be hidden away in the Northeast area of your island, so make sure to find it. The Hot Spring restores 7 Stamina for every 10 Ingame minutes that pass.

You can use this after exhausting your Stamina in the morning. The refill will allow you to power through the rest of the day to complete any other tasks that you might have.

A few islands have miniature Hot Springs that can rapidly regenerate your Stamina, so make sure to be on the lookout for them.

Mines & Dungeons

Each island in the game has a Mine that you can visit to farm for resources. Additionally, there are 10 Dungeons scattered throughout the game world that you will have to find and conquer.

You can find Chests scattered around in the Mines and Dungeons. Besides resources, these also contain Crafting Recipes that are crucial for your progress.

Opening chest

Dungeons always contain a Secret Chest, so make sure that you explore every nook and cranny to avoid missing those. Another neat trick is to pick up each Chest that you encounter in the game. You can use these for storage in your base and avoid wasting resources on crafting them.

However, if you wish to sell them, you can also do that. These will sell for 50 Gold each, allowing you to get a nice amount of gold. For beginners, we recommend keeping them since you will inevitably need more of these chests to store loot.

Spirit Barn

This is one of the most important structures that beginners need to focus on. At the start of the game, you can hold only three Spirits at a time. Hence, if you want to collect most of the spirits in the game you will need to construct the barn to store them in it.

Spirit Barn

The blueprints for this building can be obtained by completing Zed’s first quest. Hence, you should try not to catch more than three spirits since you have to let go of one when you do so. Also, since Zed’s quest requires you to catch a Spirit that is at least level 5, you might be in trouble again.

Therefore, it is recommended to keep two Spirits active until you can craft the Spirit Barn.

This concludes the tips that we have for you. We hope that you find these tips helpful in your playthrough. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or suggestions for future content.
