Mortal Kombat 1: How To Do Fatalities & What Are They?

FINISH THEM!

Mortal Kombat 1 is now available to those who have pre-ordered the Premium Edition, and that includes early access to the game, days before its release. For those that have the Premium Edition, you will no doubt be playing the game right now and experiencing the gorefest that is Mortal Kombat.

If you’re a new player to the franchise, then you might be wondering what Fatalities are and how to do them. In this guide, I will show you how you can do Fatalities and the game and what they are in the game.

How To Do Fatalities & What Are They?

Now, if you’re unsure on how to do Fatalities in the game, all you have to do is pause the game and go to your Move List. Go to the Finishers tab and you will find the available Fatalities for your character listed under the Fatalities section. There, you will see two ways to doing it.

The first way is to input the button combination in order to do the Fatalities, which is the classic way of doing it. But take note of the distance you need to do it.

For example, Liu Kang’s Double Dragon Fatality requires him to be close to his opponent. When he is close, you are then able to input the button combinations to perform the Fatality on your opponent.

Another way to do Fatalities is Easy Fatality. You essentially only have to press a couple of buttons to perform the Fatality. Bear in mind you still need to be at the right distance to perform it, otherwise it will not do the Fatality you are trying to do. But as easy as these sounds, it comes at a cost.

Every Easy Fatality you do will cost you 1 Easy Fatality Token, which is essentially a premium currency you have to earn by doing game modes like Invasions and Shrine.

You can also earn by leveling up your Kameos. If you don’t want to do that, you can also purchase them, as they are premium currency.

So now that you know how to do Fatalities, let’s move on to the next question: what are they? Well, they are essentially flashy, gory spectacles you can do when you (or your opponent) defeat you.

You will know you can do a Fatality when you see the words “FINISH HIM” or “FINISH HER” pop up on the screen, along with the announcer saying it.

When this happens, you will have a few seconds to input the Fatality button combination or the Easy Fatality buttons to perform a Fatality.

You cannot do a Fatality on your opponents while in the middle of the match, as these Fatalities are pretty much meant to kill your opponent in the most horrific way possible. It’s also the best way to end a match.

Bear in mind that you will need to memorize the button combination of the character you are using. Online matches won’t allow you to pause the game and freeze the match to check what your characters Fatality button combinations are. It’s best to pick a character you are planning on using and memorize their Fatalities.
