Where Winds Meet offers a variety of main story missions and quests where you get rewards. Some of these rewards allow you to get powerful items, mystic arts and special weapons. Ideally, you want to get these as early as possible as they are linked to quests and areas. If you do not do them, you could miss out on potential boss fights, unlocks and just general progression. Not to worry, we have you covered. In this guide, we’ll show you all the unlocks you need to get and how to do it as quickly as possible. Let’s dive in!
Most Powerful Items, Mystic Arts, & Special Weapons Early
There are a total of 10 unlocks we’ll be going through that we recommend getting early on in Where Winds Meet. Keep in mind that to unlock some of these, you may need to progress through certain quests to unlock them.
#1 – Touch Of Death
Description: Touch of Death is an assassination skill that you need for learning martial arts and clearing out hideouts. It will also help you clear out hideouts.
Location: Echoes Of Old Battles quest at Battlecrest Slope. You can go here as early as after unlocking your first fire. Talk to the eavesdropper there.
Steps To Unlock
- Talk to the Eavesdropper to start the Echoes of Old Battles quest
- Unlock the training ground contraption
- Solve the puzzle on the wall
- Unlock the Touch of Death at the end of the Dungeon.

#2 – Cloud Steps
Description: Cloud Steps is a Lightness skill that can be used as a handy gap closer in combat to jump onto opponents and then attack them. It is especially useful against certain bosses as it can stun them or stop their current action.
Location: Echoes In The Shrine quest at the General’s Shrine.
Steps To Unlock
- Talk to the person kneeling at the shrine entrance
- Use Mighty Drop to break through the ground
- Progress through the dungeon and acquire Cloud Steps
- Defeat Zhang Lang boss and pray three times to escape.

#3 – Meridian Touch
Description: Meridian Touch is arguably the most important skill to get in Where Winds Meet. It can be used to stun enemies in combat. Outside of combat, it is vital for progressing through various quests and areas – including those needed for boss unlocks.
Location: Acquired from the Meridian Touch quest at Stonewash Strand in the Verdant Wilds.
Steps To Unlock
- Interact with Yan Qiren
- Use meridian touch and select the Immobilized option to unlock the mystic skill permanently.

#4 – Celestial Seize
Description: Celestial Seize can be used in combat to disarm enemies and counterattack them with their own weapon – including some bosses. Outside of combat, you can use it to grab chests from a distance or even rob people.
Location: Foul Play quest that can be started at Heaven’s Pier.
Steps To Unlock
- Talk to the drunk man near the vendor
- Complete the quest and obtain the Mystic Skill at the end.

#5 – Dragon Keys
Description: Dragon Keys are items that you can use to access Skill Theft infiltration missions to learn a Martial Art style. We recommend using them only for getting Martial Arts from Sects you do not plan on joining.

- Completing outposts

- As rewards for completing your breakthroughs.
There is a skill theft exploration quest that allows you to unlock Invisibility. It works really with the Touch of Death skill.

#6 – Inner Ways
Description: Inner Ways are passive skills that grant different bonuses and effects as you progress through the game. Most of these are unlocked through campaigns but there are some you can also purchase.
Location: Unlocked through main story quests. One of them can be purchased from Tang Bao at the Blissful Retreat by getting all 10 fragments. Be sure to get as many of the inner ways as you can so you can benefit from them in combat.

#7 – Wind & Water Walking
Description: Learning to fly and walk on water is something that all players want to do in Where Winds Meet. You can achieve this alongside related skills using Wind and Water Walking.
Location: Lake at Witherwilds where you interact with the fisherman to start the “What Is the Dust Cloud?” quest.
Steps To Unlock
- Start the fisherman quest at Witherwilds
- Complete the pot jumping mini challenge
- Obtain 4,000 exploration points in the region to unlock Wind Walking
- Hand in curiosities alongside 4,000 exploration points for Water Walking.

#8 – Guardian Palm
Description: Guardian Palm is one of the best Mystic Arts in the game. In combat, it allows you to unleash two palm strikes forward. After that, you leap into the air and smite the ground to knock back nearby enemies.
Location: Travel to the north of the map where the Wayfarer of Sundara Lands is. Interact with the mumbling monk there to start the quest.
Steps To Unlock
- Talk to the Mumbling Monk to start Where a Thousand Buddhas Wept quest.
- Follow the procession and go through the cutscenes
- Talk to the monk at the end to unlock the Guardian Palm Mystic Arts skill.

#9 – Medicinal Tales
Description: Throughout your journey, you will obtain Medicinal Tales by defeating bosses, completing certain quests and so on. You can turn these medicinal tales to Yaoyao to upgrade your medicine chest and get more healing charges.
Location: You can find Yaoyao at the Evercare Clinic at Still Shore.

#10 – Honking Havoc
Description: Honking Havoc is a mystic skill that can be used to trigger Breath Hold and also deal AoE damage.
Location: You can find it beside the river on the path between Blissful Retreat and Heaven’s Pier. At this location, there is a goose fighting with a bear. Approach and observe it to get the skill.
