The progression system that came with the relaunch of MultiVersus is a bit controversial, but there are a few ways to cheese certain aspects of it, if you so desire. In this guide, we’ll be showing you a quick way to bang out the “Play as [insert character here]” missions, which would normally require you to go through an entire match to progress.
Fastest Way to Progress “Play as Certain Character” Challenges
Basically, there are occasionally missions in the game that will require you to play as a specific character or those who have certain traits, such as “Non-Human” or “Looney Tunes”.
While it may be a bit of a hassle to complete these, especially when you aren’t particularly fond of the character/s that you’ll have to play, you can get this done without actually doing so (kinda).
Basically, you will have to first play through rifts, which is a new PVE game mode introduced in the game’s relaunch version. You must do this until you can repeatedly do the jump rope challenge.
As of writing this, this type of challenge can be found in the Multiversal Mayhem rift, which has the Chaos tag and is the first one that unlocked. It is marked by an image of Joker.
By progressing through it normally, you will eventually stumble into the jump rope challenge, which you are free to do normally if you want to see how far you can get. This isn’t necessary, however.
For some reason, failing to nail even a single jump will still count as a match victory. Because of this, if you pick the fighter or specific character type needed for a mission and immediately fail to jump the rope, you will still get progress towards completing it.
Also, if your mission is based on character traits, you can also use certain variants to complete these missions without using a character who has it naturally.
For example, LeBron James has the I’m Freakin’ Robin variant, which gives him the DC trait. This makes him technically eligible for completing missions that require a DC character, as long as that variant is used.
Anyway, it’s just a quick and cheesy way to complete the challenge. If you aren’t completely strapped for time and don’t mind the character restriction, feel free to play matches normally to complete these missions.

We aren’t sure if this is an intended mechanic or not (it most likely isn’t), so take advantage of it while you can. It might just be patched once the developers catch on and consider this to be an exploit!
That’s pretty much all you need to know in order to essentially cheese this specific mission type in the game. While you are here, consider checking out our guide on how to unlock Agent Smith for free in MultiVersus to (hopefully) expand your playable roster and get various other rewards.
