Picking a support character may sound boring compared to a brawler or assassin in Multiversus, but these characters can actually be really interesting to play. Steven is a great example of this with his many unique abilities that can make him a great fighter as well as support in 2v2s. In this guide, we’ll show you the abilities and strengths of Steven so you can start playing your favorite character! Let’s see how to play Steven.
Beginners Guide To Steven | MultiVersus
Now in MultiVerse it’s a well-known fact that the game doesn’t have a block function unlike other platform fighters like Smash Bros. Some characters do have a block ability though, like Wonder Woman with her shield, and of course Steven as well. This ability makes him stand out because not only can he block a total of 3 hits before the shield breaks, but when you do the shield move in a 2v2 your partner gets a shield too! Just remember that you still share the same 3 hits, so if your partner gets hit 3 times the shield breaks and you have to wait for the cooldown.
Also remember, the enemy can’t go through the shield! So, use that to your advantage!
Another notable move he can do is his down attack. His down attack creates a field around him that his enemies, the catch to this move is that it also breaks armor. So, if your enemy has any armor on them, this is a great move to weave into your attacks.
Steven’s Neutral attack is also unique in a way that if you hit an enemy with it, it’ll create a counter on top of them called Rose’s Gaze. If you continue to hit them and get that counter to 10, the enemy will be trapped in a bubble and can’t do anything for a while!
If you do a Neutral attack in the air, he creates a bubble that protects himself but also damages anyone it touches going down.

His Neutral Special creates a tether on the ground that stays there for a while. If your opponent is caught in the middle of the tether when it disappears, they take damage. It also counts as damage for Rose’s Gaze. You can also tether it to your ally!
His side special lets him create a shield that when the opponent touches, they get knocked back. A great way to place behind your opponent so you can juggle them for a bit between the shield and you attack. One neat thing about this shield as well is that you can use it to block arena edges!
If you also create a shield through an ally, it gives them armor, a neat thing to remember.
His up special is the same with creating a shield but upwards. The special thing about this is that you can also use it as a platform!
His down special is probably the most unique in this game. He slams the ground below him creating a healing area, it also creates a little melon that turns into a little melon man that can attack your enemy! Making a 1v1 into a 2v1 and a 2v2 to a 3v2!
Lastly, Steven’s aerial down special makes him create a shield he rides downwards. The thing about this move is that when you hit an enemy with it, you get a chance to fly away for a bit.
Conclusion
So, that’s our guide on how to play Steven. Steven actually has a lot of very interesting and unique moves in MultiVersus and that’s the main reason why it’s classified as an “Expert” character by the game. It takes a while to get used to all of these unique moves and their properties but once you do, he’s probably the best support in the game!
