Once Human: How to Get Rich Quick (Energy Link Farming Tips)

Once Human has a lot of vendors to buy from, and on top of that, you’ll be using the same currency they use in order to upgrade your gear, craft stuff, and more. Because of that, you will need to find ways to quickly rack up a lot of energy links. In this guide, I’ll be giving you a few surefire ways to get rich quick!

There are many ways to farm energy links in the game, outside of simply killing enemies and looting towns over and over again. Most of the best ways require certain memetic specializations, and these will vary wildly depending on a player’s preferences.

With that in mind, here are some of the ways that you can quickly get a lot of energy links with varying degrees of effort needed:

Method #1. Crafting and Selling Specialization Items (Silver/Gold Ingots, Combo Chipsets, Crystal Sets, Etc.)

First up, as mentioned earlier, some memetic specializations unlock new crafting recipes for items that basically serve as vendor fodder. One of the earliest examples of this is the Combo Chipset specialization, which lets you make an item of the same name.

It sells for a whopping 12,000 energy links at any vendor, and it is incredibly easy to make if you consider how much a single piece will give you. Since I have a hive mate who took this spec, here is proof of how much a single unit sells at a vendor:

The same logic applies for other specializations, such as the one that lets you craft gold and silver ingots, however, the downside to that is that these materials are harder to come by.

That’s because gold and silver nodes do not have a static spawn. Instead, they can randomly appear in the place of a certain tier of ore whenever a node respawns. For example, there is a chance for a copper ore node to respawn as a silver node.

As a bonus tip, gold ore can also be used to buff the yield of a solar drill, which is a completely different specialization. It’s all a bit complicated to explain in detail here, but there are definitely other uses for these luxury ores outside of selling.

Although unreliable, silver ingots sell for 6,000 energy links each, while gold ingots sell for 12,000. Later on, you can also choose a specialization that lets you craft Rare Crystal Sets, and these sell for 12,000 as well. I have the Crystal Set spec, so below is proof of that pricing.

NOTE: Vendors have a selling limit that prevents you from endlessly farming money off them. This resets regularly, but they seem to have individual limits, meaning that you can find another vendor if the one you’ve been selling to has gotten down to zero.

Method #2. Vending to Other Players

Depending on the needs of players in your server and world, you could also unlock the Vending Machine memetic and build one in your base. There, you can set up various items for sale, including specialization tools.

For example, in the image below, I am putting up 10 pieces of acid for a price of 500 energy links each as people need this for making higher tier ingots. This is just an example, however. I am not actually selling these, let alone at this price.

As I mentioned above, items that were crafted through memetic specializations can also be sold here. This means that players can sell stuff like solar drills to people who cannot make them.

If you look at the example below, I have a solar drill benefiting from two of my specializations. I put it up for sale at an extremely high price of 50,000 energy links.

If a player were to stumble upon my vending machine and think that this is a fair price for such an item, they can essentially pay me 50,000 energy links to get it. As far as I know, the money is instantly wired to you the second somebody buys something too.

Method #3. Plain Old Boss Grinding

Finally, the last method I have for you is the most straightforward one, and your mileage may vary depending on your personal skill and level/build.

Basically, spamming boss fights at the highest level monolith that you are comfortable farming solo is a consistent way of making money and getting a ton of EXP along the way.

My current favorite boss for this method is the level 40 Shadow Hound at the Monolith of Thirst. Since hard mode is still locked until the next phase of the season, we’ll only be farming normal mode bosses for now.

A single Shadow Hound kill will net you 1,170 energy links if you take the minimum gain, which is ideal as we want to be saving controllers for much later in the season.

With a good build, you can take down the Shadow Hound in quick 1 to 2 minute sessions, and you’ll get around 4,000+ EXP per kill. This means that you can make thousands in no time, while also getting a bunch of levels for your efforts.

And those are pretty much all of the tips we have for you at the moment, as the more lucrative higher level activities are still locked out.
