One Piece Odyssey is a game that is developed around 5 years and has a lot of high expectations from its gamers as well as Anime and Manga followers. In this guide, we will be giving you an explanation of all the major systems that Odyssey will feature and function as. Let’s get started and make things much more understandable.

All Systems Explained (Somewhat) – One Piece Odyssey

One Piece Odyssey will be a JRGP that has a turnbased combat with 4 characters. This doesn’t mean that the battles will be 4v4, but it can be one character in a battle against 20 at times! These here are the major elements of One Piece Odyssey:

  • Dramatic Story – a storyline filled with nostalgic memories from the Anime and Manga
  • Battle – turn-based combat with a lot of choices and unexpected scripted moments
  • Adventure – a wide-open world for you to explore in real-time as well as have different exploration skills

Dramatic Story

The storyline that is based on very energetic and alive moments while at times being incredibly dramatic is something that we can expect in One Piece Odyssey. There will be lots of cool cutscenes with a lot of both new and nostalgic memory sequences.

Although it isn’t very clear, there seems to be an implemented dialogue system with choices when it comes to some matters of the story.

Battle & Combat

It is a turn-based combat that will have 4 characters split apart into 4 different zones and sections of the battle area. It has a rock paper scissor mechanic as well for having a more tactical approach as well as some RNG element to it so that you won’t get the overpowered feeling and make every battle dangerous and risky.

There are randomized positioning elements as well as very unexpected scripted events that might occur in battles. This means that every battle has a chance to be different and things like time rush, rescuing of a friend, and so on, will be possible.

There will be huge battle sequences just like in the Anime and Manga even though it is turn-based combat. Every character will have unique abilities that come in handy in one point or another. The game will push you to play different characters so that it will be more versatile and different in each combat sequence. The strategy of leveling up and overpowering Luffy won’t work!

Exploration

You will be able to switch between different Straw Hat characters while exploring and enjoying each of their unique voice acting. Each character will have certain types of skills that you can use for unlocking or reaching some areas that cannot be gotten to with certain characters.

There will be multiple dungeons both in the Anime and Manga and some new that will feature puzzles for you to pass and solve. They will be both easy and hard and will always bring you some certain element of reward that is needed for your adventure.

You will get areas where you can open up the Camping menu and physically sit down and interact with all of your favorite characters. While doing so, you can level them up as well as craft and unlock gear and skills for them to use.

That’s all that you need to know about the different systems of One Piece Odyssey. We hope that this article has given you a good overview of what the game will be functioning as and what you can expect. Stay patient and stay tuned for more One Piece Odyssey guides in the future!
