One Piece Odyssey is one of the most anticipated games that is coming out on January 12 and 13th for both One Piece anime and manga fans, and for newcomers that aren’t at all familiar with it. In this article, we will be discussing everything that we know so far about it and give you a brief insight to better know what to expect. Let’s get started.

Everything We Know – One Piece Odyssey

A very fun fact that not a lot of people know:

One Piece has been out for 25 years! The devs working on One Piece Odyssey have been in development for 5 years!

All that we know so far even without the game being released, is that a lot of players are very excited about the upcoming One Piece Odyssey game. There have been multiple videos and presentations of gameplay from it, that truth be told, is making us even more excited and thrilled.

This game is going to be released as an anniversary title having a time span of a quarter of a century. That says that the devs have spent a lot of love and passion on this project which will be a full-fledged turned-based JRPG that is hand-crafted and designed by the author of One Piece himself!

The story will be inside the Wafford area that will be following the original storyline with sets and pieces of very memorable moments for you to enjoy. Yes, there will be changes and unexpected moments that some players are scared of, but let’s be real, a game of this size and being led by the author of One Piece can only bring good changes.

Gameplay

The game starts off with the straw hat characters being basically torn off their skills and powers. This way you start the game on level 1 and without any of the cool skills that Luffy might have later on. The progression system will give that opportunity and chance for you to upgrade, however.

The recovery of the powers is done by going into nostalgic memories. You will have a full party of your own to control each with a different skill set. All of the characters will be different and useful in one way or another. The game will force you to change up your team preference.

There will be a scrambled combat area divided into 4 regions with each character. This means that each character will have its own group of enemies to fight so that it can add a whole lot of versatility to every battle. There will be specific unexpected events with certain tasks and objectives like freeing friendly characters, time rush events, and so on.

Exploration

Exploration is done in a large openworld format. You will have an on-screen minimap and a world map for you to choose where you’d want to travel. The map is fairly big and does feature a lot of interesting One Piece zones. Every character will have a unique set of exploration skills that will unlock locked areas.

Voice Acting

There is no English Voice acting as of yet in One Piece Odyssey. This is unfortunate but at the same time, you’ll be able to hear the original Japanese voices of your favorite characters.

Do You Have To Watch One Piece To Enjoy One Piece Odyssey?

The game isn’t made to be entirely and only fan-friendly. Instead, you are able to play and enjoy just as much as a 25-year watcher of Manga and Anime would.

The devs have overstated that it isn’t something that you’ll need to know the backstory of, although yes it will increase the overall enjoyment, this game will serve as a bridge for newcomers to the lore and story to perhaps start watching the show or maybe even read the manga too.

That means that if you don’t have a clue about Luffy or any of the characters, One Piece Odyssey will still be a very enjoyable game that will present you with the facts and story pieces as you play through it.

That’s all that we know so far about One Piece Odyssey. We are really thrilled and excited about the release of this game and so should you. Until we find out something about the game, stay calm and patient and in a bit, we will be giving you all the guide’s that you might need. Stay tuned!
