Pikmin 4 is the newest entry to the Pikmin franchise after Pikmin 3, which was released in July 13, 2013, which is a decade ago. Fans have been itching for a Pikmin game in that decade long wait, and they after waiting for 10 years, Pikmin 4 is finally out.
There are many changes to the game that many fans will find that have been improved and refined, like the combat. In the 1st Story: Bulblaxes, you are tasked with defeating enemies as a way for the game to introduce you to the game. In this guide, I will show you how you can complete the first level with ease.
1st Story: Bulblaxes Guide
As soon as the level starts, gather all of your Red Pikmins and continue to the next room in front of you. There, you will find two enemies, two Bulborbs. Throw your Red Pikmins at the enemies and defeat them. Afterwards, pluck out the Red Pikmins that are in the ground to your left.
After defeating the two enemies, you will find it shocking that there is a third enemy in the room with you. The giant red and white wall isn’t a wall, but another enemy called Spotty Bulbear. It won’t attack you until you attack it first, so make sure to charge into it to give it a surprise attack. Once the enemy is down, pick up the item that it was guarding.
Go back to the ship and look for a wall. Charge into the wall to bring it down and have your Pikmins do the rest of the work.
While your Pikmins are working to bring down the wall, head to the opposite side the area and there, you can find mushrooms and sticky mold on the ground. Charge through and take down the mushrooms to remove the sticky mold to reveal a jumping pad for you to use.
However, don’t do that just yet. Instead, go back to the wall that your Pikmins were working on bringing down and you will find it gone. Collect your Pikmins and go through. There, you will find Blue Pikmins in the ground. Pluck them out to have them join you.
With more Pikmins at your arsenal, you will be able to take down the three enemies in the next room, two Bulborbs and one Spotty Bulbear. Make use of the charging ability to take down the smaller enemies with ease, then throw your Pikmins at the larger enemy. Eventually, the large one will fall down, which should only leave 5 enemies left to defeat.
After defeating the enemies, head back to the area with the jump pad. Use it to jump up to the area above and you will land on an area with Red Pikmins in the ground. Pluck them out and bring them with you.
In the next area, you will find an enemy that looks a little tougher than the rest. This is a Frosty Bulborb, and thankfully, you should have the Bomb Rock item that you picked up earlier. Equip it and then throw the Bomb Rock at the enemy to instantly take it down.
In the room after the last enemy, there will be a Bulborb, a Spotty Bulbear and some more Red Pikmins in the ground. Throw all your Pikmins at the two enemies and immediately go to the Red Pikmins on the ground and pluck them out. If the enemies are still alive, then throw them as well to speed up the process.
Afterwards, go back down and head to the area that’s at the bottom left corner of the map. There, you will find one Spotty Bulbear and more Blue Pikmins in the ground. Throw your Pikmins at the enemy and then move to pluck out the Blue Pikmins from the ground.
Now, for the last enemy, which is a Fiery Bulblax. It’s in the room next to the last enemy, and you most definitely moved past it. But now that you have a lot of Pikmins, all that’s left is to charge into it and throw all your Pikmins at the last enemy to defeat it. Once it goes down, the level is complete.
