If you’ve been following along with my guide for the Tower Code Puzzle, you’re in for yet another challenging puzzle in Poppy Playtime – Chapter 4: Safe Haven. After getting through the puzzles and sneaking past the shenanigans with Doughey, you’ll now find yourself in the basement with a tricky gear puzzle awaiting you. Don’t worry though, I’ve got your back, I’m here to guide you step by step. Let’s get those gears in place!
Gears Puzzle Solution | Chapter 4 Safe Haven
As you make your way through the game, you’ll come across a room with a blocked door and a vent sealed with wooden planks. Rip the planks off and crawl through. When you emerge on the other side, you’ll find Doughey—who’s not the friendliest guy, but hey, at least he’s got the power to help you out. After a quick chat about the generator, drop down into the basement.
Once you land, follow the path around the basement and you’ll spot an empty battery slot. No worries though—Doughey has a battery pack ready for you! Grab it, pop it in, and there you have it! The power comes back on, opening up a door behind you and giving you access to the fenced-off area in the center of the basement.
Inside the fenced-off area, you’ll come across a wall of spinning gears. But wait! Some gears are missing. In the following section, I’ll help you track them down.
First Gear Location
The first one is behind you, right as you enter. Turn around, and you’ll spot a passage leading to a workbench. The first gear is sitting there, waiting for you to grab it. No need to worry about placement just yet—just grab it and head to the next one.
Once you’ve got the first gear, leave the fenced-off area and head back toward the section where you dropped down earlier. This time, you’ll spot a couple of doors leading to a winding path. Go through the one on the right. Here, you’ll find a handful of gears, but don’t get distracted—you only need two of them!
Second & Third Gear Location
The first gear you need in this section is buried beneath some crates on your left as soon as you enter. Pull those crates away, and boom! You’ve got your second gear.
For the third gear, head over to the back right corner. You’ll spot a shelving unit here, with the gear sitting on the bottom shelf of the left-hand side. Grab it, and you’re almost there!
Setting Up The Gears & Solving the Gear Puzzle
With all three gears in hand, head back to the mechanism and align them correctly:
- The largest gear goes in the left slot;
- The medium gear in the center;
- And the smallest gear in the right.
Once you’ve got them in place, the shutter on the left side will open up, and you’re ready to move forward.
Wrap-Up
With the gears aligned and the power back on, you’re all set to continue your journey through the Safe Haven. Keep your eyes peeled though—things are just getting started! And there you have it! With the gears puzzle out of the way, you can rest easy knowing you’ve solved one of the trickier sections of Chapter 4 in Poppy Playtime.
