Regiments is a Real-Time Tactics game set in 1989 in Germany. The Cold War has erupted into a blazing fire. Lead your Regiment through the conflagration and fog of battle. Break through the lines, summon artillery, move, stage defenses, and counter-attack. Do not give up.

In this guide, we will be giving you all the starting tips and tricks and a complete beginners guide that you’ll need in order to better lead your Regiments into battle. Let’s get started.

Complete Beginners Guide – Regiments

Regiments is a type of game where you can spend literally hours not doing anything and just thinking and planning your next move and strategy. Planning is very crucial because of it is a real-life war-like scenario, meaning that a simple mistake can lead to your downfall and death.

Once you’ve done your planning you will most likely need to turn to one of these important tricks:

Always Attack From Where The Enemy Won’t See You – Flanks

This is especially important when dealing with entrenched enemy positions because there’s nothing stopping you from walking around them and striking from an unexpected angle, doing extra damage. A typical flanking attack force consists of two or three platoons, one to pin from the front and attract fire, and the other platoons to rapidly wrap up any opposition.

Also, a real-life historical fact that can help you if you’re a beginner in Regiments – most of the battles in history are won by those who struck first from well-coordinated positions. So flank and surround your enemies, and shoot them up real good from positions where it really hurts.

Artillery Is OP!

Artillery should be your best friend whenever you are playing a realistic military simulator! No matter what you’ll be doing you should always be having the artillery at the ready!

If you might be thinking that there are certain enemies hidden in a forest area – bomb it! If you might know of some soldiers hidden in some houses – bomb them! Sometimes you wil..- bomb them all!

Artillery should be following you around and used at all times. No matter if it is the offensive measures of defense, you will want to have those things working overtime. There is not a fortified position or a tank that can take a couple of artillery strikes! Also, just the suppressive element of them makes them a perfect weapon to use as well. Highly recommended!

Don’t Forget To Use the Tactical Support

The Tactical Support is a system in Regiments that allows you to basically buy yourself materials and all sorts of goods. They are your currency in a way with which you can shop everything from:

  • Air strikes
  • Smokes
  • Reconnaissance
  • Packages and etc.

When playing after a while you will realize that those numbers can get stacked up. Do not go saving some of these resources as whatever it is that you’ll buy will come in handy at times. We recommend going for those Packages as they can surprise you with their loot.

When you are in a sticky situation go all in and use as much as you want. Don’t worry about losing them as with time you can get them back. So instead of getting your soldiers killed, you can be generous and actually buy something for them!

See Your Enemy Before He Sees You

The key thing to see your enemy before he sees you is Recon. Most of the units in the game will have surprisingly short vision making them not very good for high detection.

That is why you will have to actually get a couple of Recon Regiments with you. Whenever you are thinking of going for an attack, make sure you have a couple of snipers in the bushes marking enemies’ locations for you. You can combine it very well with artillery or air strikes too.

Check Weapon Distance Of Your Soldiers

The game doesn’t do a well enough job to explain this very small but extremely necessary detail.

Simply press the C button and hold it to see the outlines around your soldiers. This way you will know up to which range they can fire, where they can fire, how much they can see, etc.

Task Forces

In every type of scenario that you will choose to play in Regiments, you will be given and assigned with a Regiment. Each type of special regiment has its own specialty making them very useful for certain types of situations.

These are the Task Forces. Units that are specialized in types of attacks or terrain or movement. You can call a whole 3 more later on while proceeding with the game. Make sure to use them in critical moments when you can get the most out of them.

That should be it! No matter what the biggest tip for you as a beginner is to truly explore all the strategies and situations all by yourself. You are the supreme commander of this army and it is entirely up to you to enjoy this war scenario. Have fun! We hope that this guide has given you the starting help that you require.
