Roblox is a platform that has tons to offer for those that have a bad itch that can’t be tended to elsewhere. That could’ve been worded better. What we’re trying to say is, it has plenty of games to offer. The system is even capable of producing genres that you normally wouldn’t expect from a community of wacky teenagers as well, like horror.
Surprising as it may be, there are Roblox games out there that are capable of keeping the most functional adult awake past 3AM. If you’re looking for a good scare then check out the tier list we got below for some of the best looking horror games ever, on Roblox!
Best Horror Games Tier List
Scary is subjective. With that disclaimer out of the way we can now focus on the tier list for real this time. Some of your favorite titles may not end up on the list altogether as well since we’re only covering eight entries.
This means the rest are either good enough to the point where they don’t need to be discussed at all or they’re just filled to the brim with stale jumpscares.
S Tier
- Apeirophobia – A timeless Roblox classic that still gets even the most seasoned player every now and again. Going from point A to point B is has always been a challenge in this game no thanks to the puzzles and the horrors that get in your way. That’s a good thing by the way. Whatever you see in the shadows can and will get you if you look at them long enough.
- This can easily be bumped down to A tier if you’re playing with friends as that removes the scare factor from it entirely, especially if your friends get scared first before you even get a chance to react.
- Short Creepy Stories – A game that gives you varying objectives depending on the scenario. You’ll immediately know that something has gone completely awry the moment you leave the safety of the lobby. There’s plenty of moments in the game where your expectations blow up in your face when you expect conventional things to happen.
- Thankfully it doesn’t always rely on that trope to mess with your head. Regardless, it’s a great game that will keep you and your friends on edge, especially when the mannequins come in!
A Tier
- The Rake Remastered – Remember when everyone who knew how to scream into a microphone played Slenderman for the first time? This is that game. As you progress further you’ll notice that you’re no longer just being followed or stalked, you’re being chased.
- You being out in the woods at night with The Rake doesn’t really leave you with a lot of options. Complete your objectives while under pressure or use your friends as bait to survive the encounters thrown at you.
B Tier
- Identity Fraud – If it gives you the creeps then it’s usually good. Identify Fraud delivers that well for a game that has a pretty basic concept. That’s what you can get away with if you truly understand what scares the average gamer who possesses recording software.
- The creep factor comes in when you encounter other “players” while you try to do your objectives. Some of them aren’t really players and you’ll only find out about it when it’s already too late. Think of it as a first person Among Us game without the vents.
C Tier
- Dead Silence – Not that bad of a game if you can excuse the numerous warnings or claims it makes about “aggressive” horror elements. The horror builds up nicely as how it should and even gives you a few spooks. The problem is once the “horror elements” start ramping up, the game ends.
- That’s it, literally the worst cliff hanger you can get. You can beat the entire game in less than ten minutes. If there was more to the game, it can get bumped to B tier rather easily.
- Rainbow Friends – It tries to be a horror game, but it reminds you of Gang Beasts somehow when the monsters get unleashed. It’s well made, the objects in the game are put together nicely and it has its moments.
- The game is definitely made for kids and there’s no problem with that at all. Rainbow friends can easily be put at a higher tier elsewhere, but it gets a C since it’s still a horror game.
D Tier
- The Maze – Some horror stories are rather simple. Kind of like The Maze. You end up inside of a – well a maze frankly, hence the title. There’s no way out, no victory condition, it’s just you holding out against your inner demons.
- That and the actual demon that chases you around until you stumble upon a corner. Your heart will only stop beating once you get caught, consider that your good ending.
F Tier
- Elmira – A good example of “looks can be deceiving.” It has a suspiciously high like / dislike ratio for a game that has subpar audio. There are a few segments in the game where this is very noticeable that it immediately ruins the atmosphere. There are others that also blow out your eardrums, so you know it’s getting the job done.
- The jumpscares aren’t much either, these are supposed to be your high notes in video games or movies. If you know what’s coming and it still gets to you then that translates to great success. Every jumpscare here is strategically timed and placed to help convince you to switch over to a better game.
And those are the horror games you can take a look at the next time you open up Roblox. Do yourself a favor and put some headphones, and don’t scream either! You’re not streaming and people are trying to get some sleep.
