Finding Wyverns in Rune Slayer can feel like searching for a needle in a snowy haystack—especially if you’re trying to tame one for their rare drops or coveted Wyvern Eggs. If you’re tired of running around hoping to stumble into a spawn, this guide will show you how to force spawn Wyverns and farm them efficiently, even solo. Let’s break down a tested method that drastically increases your chances of finding and taming Wyverns without fighting off half the server for them!

How to Find Wyverns in Rune Slayer?

Wyverns in Rune Slayer

Wyverns are rare mob spawns in the Tundra biome, and they share spawn points with regular enemies. Because of this, their appearance depends entirely on RNG (and whether someone else hasn’t already killed them before you even get there).

The issue gets worse in high-traffic “hotspot” areas, where other players constantly cycle through mobs. That means:

  • If a Wyvern spawns, it might be killed before you even see it.
  • You could lose your chance to tame it because of random players hunting for eggs or loot.

So what’s the solution? Force spawning them in low-traffic areas you can control.

Step 1: Set Your Spawn in the Village

Before anything else, set your spawn point at the Tundra Village. This is your main base for the farming route, and you’ll be returning here frequently if things go south (or if you just want a reset).

Step 2: Avoid the Crowd

These spots refer to the well-known path from the Village to the cave, where players often farm mobs. Wyverns can spawn here, yes—but there are downsides:

  • Too many players = high competition.
  • Wyverns are often killed before you can tame them.
  • Randoms might jump in and steal your tame.

Instead, you want to head east of the village toward a lesser-used farming route with multiple spawn points and a healing zone nearby.

Step 3: Use the 6-Point Force Spawn Loop

Here’s where the magic happens. This method focuses on a loop of six spawn points that all have a chance to spawn a Wyvern. These are normal mob spawn spots, but by constantly clearing them, you increase the odds that a Wyvern appears instead.

First Spawn Point – On top of a cliff, east of the village.

Second Point (by the snowman) – Next to a small hut.

Third Point – Right in front of the hut.

Fourth Point – Higher up behind the hut.

Fifth Point – Slightly lower area near the cliffs.

Sixth Point – Farther out, but still walkable.

The hut near the second point has a bed where you can heal and warm up, which is a huge bonus when you’re grinding for long sessions.

Step 4: Clear, Heal, Repeat

Start clearing mobs in all six locations in a loop. After one full circuit, return to the hut to:

  • Heal up
  • Warm your character (to prevent frost damage)
  • Let respawns reset

Then repeat the loop again. The idea is to manually refresh the spawn pool and force the game’s RNG to roll Wyverns in those slots.

What To Expect

Farming Wyverns using the force spawn method isn’t a one-and-done kind of grind—it’s a time investment that relies on patience and persistence. While this method significantly increases your chances compared to relying on random spawns in crowded hotspots, it’s still governed by RNG (random number generation). That means sometimes you’ll get lucky quickly, and other times it might take a while.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • No guaranteed spawns per loop – Just because you clear all six spots doesn’t mean a Wyvern will show up immediately. Sometimes you might go through several rotations before seeing one.
  • Better odds overall – With six spawn points, you’re giving yourself more “rolls of the dice” per cycle. The more spawn zones you control and clear, the higher your overall chances.
  • Time-efficient vs. hotspots – Unlike in busy areas where mobs and potential Wyverns get killed by other players, this method gives you full control over the pacing. That means less waiting and fewer interruptions.
  • Reduced frustration – Since you’re not competing with others, there’s less risk of having your Wyvern kill or tame attempt stolen. You can focus entirely on executing your farming loop.

You might not get a Wyvern every few minutes, but with consistent clearing and patience, your chances steadily increase—and that makes this method far more efficient and less stressful than relying on luck in high-traffic areas.

How To Tame Wyverns (And What Happens If You Fail)

Once a Wyvern finally spawns, the next step is taming it. This part can be just as tricky as finding one.

To tame a Wyvern, you’ll need to interact with it during its tame window, which usually appears shortly after it spawns and calms down. Be cautious, though—getting too close too early or attacking it by accident can reset or ruin the tame opportunity. It’s best to clear nearby mobs first to avoid interruptions.

If you fail the tame, don’t panic. You’ll have to wait around 1 to 2 minutes before the Wyvern becomes tameable again. This gives you a second chance without needing to force another spawn right away.

Bring backup tames or healing items in case you get mobbed while trying. If someone kills your Wyvern mid-tame attempt, there’s not much you can do.

If you’ve been struggling to get a Wyvern Egg in Rune Slayer, or even just to find a Wyvern to tame, this method is your best bet. It’s all about taking control of your environment instead of rolling the dice in crowded areas. By cycling through six reliable spawn points and using the hut as a safe base, you can turn RNG into something a little more manageable and avoid the chaos of the public zones. So grab a friend, head east from the village, and start farming smart. That Wyvern Egg (and maybe even an epic katana drop ) is waiting for you.  If you want your level progression to be much faster in Rune Slayer, check out my short guide!
