Because of that reason, this game has risen a lot of commotion as of late and there are actually quite a bit of newcomers coming to it, as well as people who love both the comic and the anime version of it.

You will get a very simple experience that is both fun, exciting, and rewarding as you progress through every level and stage of it. There’s quite a bit of variety of enemies that you can go for and also the upgrade and the level system makes it stand out.

This is a game that is based on a movie, but even so, the budget behind it makes the gameplay very interesting and highly diverse as you play through it. There are many sets of stages and elements from the world around you that will affect your overall experience.

You will have different types of characters to go through each with their set of attacking and defending skills that you can also tailor at your will by leveling up. Some of the game’s design will remind you that you’re playing a 10-year-old game, but it is still a very fun beat ’em-up gameplay experience.

Visuals

2D, simple, energetic, and alive is how one can best explain the visuals. You will get a very well-designed background with interesting-looking characters. As you progress through the game, you will go over many different map zones that each have their own feel and design.

If you have watched the movie, you will appreciate the art choice the devs went for even more. A lot of the scenes you’d have seen will come to life and being able to go across them, as well as backed up by the beautiful visuals and the fun and simple brawler-type action, it will be quite the fun time!

Music

The music and sound effects work just perfectly. Each of the zones will come with a different set of tunes and you’ll get the feeling of energetic fun almost every moment when playing this game. It gives you that vibe of a simple yet very fun game that is just meant to relax you and not stress you out.

At the very moment of launch, however, the sound effects can become buggy and are generally way to quiet but it is an issue that will hopefully get fixed in the future.

Co-Op

You can play the game either alone or in a local or multiplayer co-op experience. It does have controller support, although it isn’t that well explained so you’ll need to be looking out for guides, once you get the hang of it, you are able to join in with your best buddy and experience the game this way.

It’s safe to say that Scott Pilgrim vs The World Game is much more fun when you’re playing it together with someone. All of the enemies that you’d face alone, are a blast when you can use the different skills and perks of leveling up in a battle.

Replayability

Although there are not that much of skills and different sets of things that you can experience in the levels of the game, you are able to actually go back to different levels once you have unlocked some of the late-game skills.

This way if you had trouble with some previous stages, you can go back all leveled up and have a different take on that same level. The money and the shop system help out with this because you will want to go back to collect those coins again to be stronger for a late boss fights for example.

Cons

How did the launch of this 10-year-old game go? Spoiler alert – not so good!

Ubisoft Connect

After waiting for years for this game to come out exclusively so you might not have a problem at all while trying to play it, you might be very disappointed to know that you will need to use Ubisoft Connect to be able to play it. This is one of the biggest disappointments that players of this game are experiencing right now since Ubisoft Connect has a lot of problems.

You will constantly be getting “Ubisoft Connect has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down.” You will need to do it over and over again until you hope that the real-life RNG gods will help you out and actually run the game for you. It has a lot of problems right now so you might be better off waiting for some time to pass until they can fix it.

Controller Support

The game supports and is actually emphasizing the co-op experience as the real way to experience the game. With that being said, you’d expect that the controller support would work flawlessly. Well, you would be wrong. Very wrong.

The controller support of Scott Pilgrim vs The World Game is in absolute chaos. You will need to be following all sorts of guides to be able to make it work and if you have the patience to do so, you’ll actually enjoy the game. Devs need to work on the controller support to make it more user–friendly.

Game Issues

Having some game-breaking issues that will test your nerves on a game that is over 10 years old is frankly unacceptable. There are so many issues at lunch that will make you think about whether you want to get this game or not.

The first thing that you’ll experience is the input lag and the Denuvo anti-cheat services that you will actually need to pay for to be able to play it. They both don’t work as well and you’ll be stuck in lots of loading times for no reason at all. There are bugs, freezes, as well as many sound errors like not listening to anything but the background music.

No Achievements

No matter what you’ll be doing, you will be left only with the things to do in-game. Nothing like achievements and trophies to spice up the gameplay and give you certain types of challenges to try out. For a lot of gamers, this is a big bummer.
