Let me guess. You picked up Shadow of Doubt, clicked play, and wondered βwhat the heck is going on?β as you trudge through the 80βs neo-noir urban jungle of the game. You barge inside a bunch of houses and wonder if you can tot them all down. Now, before you put yourself in that precarious situation, let us find out if guns, a detectiveβs best friend (aside from the usual pen & notebook), are usable in the game.
Can You Use Guns?
Technically, yes. But not in the way you think of it. Shadow of Doubt is without a doubt, pun intended, a gem of a game. Simplistic graphics and presentation so it should be easy right? Wrong. Shadow of Doubt is a complicated, extremely difficult game where even the best game masters are trumped by its randomly generated (you heard that right.) cases to solve.
Which means no strategy can be made to solve cases because they are all unique. With that said, you donβt know when death is coming and as such, you should be armed all the time. And what pops inside our mind is of course, guns. So, how do you use guns in the game?
The developers made a conscious decision to allow the presence of the guns in-game, but you actually cannot fire them. This is due to the fact that the randomly generated cases will be screwed over if it allows you to kill whoever, wherever, whenever. But hey, I mentioned you can use them right? Yep. Not as ranged weapons, but melee weapons.
That is it. With the knowledge of not being able to use guns, give us a favor. Donβt go running inside houses as if you were Rambo, ok? Itβs not going to end well for you.
