Persona 5: The Phantom X is certainly an outlier in the series since it is a gacha game compared to the other single player game experiences. As a result, many fans of the series might feel a bit put off or confused. However, the game is pretty generous when it comes to pulls allowing you to play the game without spending any money. But if you do end up wanting to spend money to get some of the more limited characters, you’ll want to get more bang out of your buck. So, in this guide, we’ll be going over the different currencies and bundles in the shop to see if they are worth it. Let’s get into it!
Shop Value Guide
Before we get into the guide, it’s important to note that you should spend your money however you want regardless of what we say in the guide. We’ll mostly look at the cost in relation to the limited characters you pull, instead of the materials that you get – which certainly have value but are not the main goal.
We also encourage you to check out our best f2p characters guide as you might pull some four stars characters – which can actually allow you to clear lot of content in the game.
Cognition Crystals
By far, cognition crystals offer the worst value of any purchase in P5X. You might be tempted to get them because with your first purchase of them, you get double the amount of crystals. While the double crystals are more worth it, they are still not great.
According to estimates, you do not even get a single pull if you purchase the lowest crystal bundle – effectively making your value 0. The rest of the options aren’t great either.
Here is a breakdown based of the average value you can get from crystals:
- Crystals (First Time)
- $1.27 per character pull
- Crystals (Standard)
- $2.82 per character pull
These numbers are based on varying numbers of character pulls, so the numbers will fluctuate in your case. But it should give you a pretty good idea of what how much you’ll end up spending for characters you actually want – ignoring the gems you can get.
Additionally, the bigger crystal bundles do offer more value but you can still do better with the bundles. So, unless you plan on spending a lot of money – you should avoid going the crystals route completely in our opinion.

Welcome Pass
The Welcome Pass bundle may look tempting but it does not offer as much value as it seems. Starting off, the Welcome Idol Chance might seem like a selector that allows you to choose which character you want out of the pool.
However, this item randomly gives you a character out of Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, Yaoling and Haruna. This means that if you buy multiple bundles – you can even get duplicates. You cannot choose which character you want.
In fact, some players have reported they got multiple duplicates which really kills the value of the bundle. If this had been a selector, it might have been worth it.
On top of that, the bundle features Gold Tickets which you can get really easily as rewards for completing events, doing the Palace and more. So spending $24.49 for them does not give you much value.
To summarize the bundle:
- Welcome Idol Chance
- Not a selector but a random chance – not worth it
- Gold Tickets
- Easily available as rewards – not worth spending money on
- Welcome Arms Case
- Choose a 4 star weapon for any of the mentioned 5-star characters in the pool – can’t carry the bundle

Awakening Sets
When you do not manage to pull a limited 5 star character, you end up getting the option to purchase their respective Awakening Sets. Below is an image showing the Ann Awakening Set.
For all Awakening Sets, you get x1000 Cognition Crystals and a guaranteed Duplicate with the Cognitite. As discussed before, you should generally avoid Cognition Crystals as they don’t really offer much value.
The duplicate can allow you to increase Awareness level – so if you really want to build the character you pulled, this can be good value. But other than that, considering the money you’re paying, you’re better off with other options.

Newcomer Pass
Here is a breakdown of the value of each item in the newcomer pass bundle:
- Miyu Sahara
- You can get this character from standard pulls anyway
- Only worth it if you really want this character
- Gold Tickets
- Easily obtainable as rewards for free
- Submarine Sonar
- Pink Mokokuma Pj’s
- These items are only worth it if you really want Miyu Sahara.
From an objective point of view, this bundle is not worth the money you are paying. If the price had been a bit cheaper (around $1.50), you could make the argument. But currently, it’s not worth getting.

Marthym’s Rewards Card
Marthym’s Rewards Card, or the Monthly Membership, is your best value option of everything in the P5X shop. On average, you spend about $0.23 per character pull courtesy of the Cognition Crystals and Meta Jewels you get.
Additionally, the Coffee Candy also helps restore 30 Stamina, allowing you to grind and potentially get even more rewards.
So, if there is one thing that’s worth getting in the shop, it’s definitely the Monthly Membership. Luckily, this resets every month so it’s definitely worth grabbing it every month.

Platinum Set
The platinum set is not a bad option for a purchase because x10 Platinum Tickets means you get 10 guaranteed pulls, leading to an average of $1 per character pull. You also get other materials that further add icing to the cake.
As a one time purchase, we can certainly recommend it if you’re a mid to low spender on the game.

Milicoin Set
If you’re pulling for weapons in P5X, the Milicoin Set is a decent option. You get x10 Platinum Milicoins and x10 Gold Parts which gives you a value of $0.50 per weapon pull. As before, you also Konpaku Gems which certainly helps you purchase other items in the game.
As a one time purchase, we can certainly recommend it if you’re a mid to low spender on the game.

Gold Set
The Gold Set gives you x30 Gold Tickets which means x30 Standard Pulls. Considering the value, this is absolutely terrible and you should avoid getting it.
Gold Tickets can be obtained easily simply by playing the game as rewards, and you’re effectively paying $1 per standard pull where you do not even have a chance of getting a limited character.
You should absolutely avoid purchasing this regardless of how much you are willing to spend.

Monthly Platinum Set
The Monthly Platinum Set is for players who are willing to go past the mid range to spend money on the game. However, as far as value goes, this is not the worst option.
With the Platinum Tickets and Meta Jewels you get, you spend an average of around $1.27 per character pull. This is comparable to the rates of purchasing Cognition Crystals the first time – although you get more pulls here at once.
On top of that, you also get x2 Coffee Aids which means stamina and potentially even more rewards.
However, you need to consider the fact that you’re dropping a lot of money at once since this costs $32.99. So, it’s definitely towards the pricier side – and it really is up to you if you’d like to get it.

Monthly Milicoin Set
Again, if you’re willing to get past the mid range of spending for weapons, the Monthly Milicoin Set is also not a bad option. You do get more Meta Jewels in this bundle to offset the Platinum Milicoins conversion.
You also get Coffee Aid to help you with your grind, potentially leading to even more rewards.
On average, you can expect to spend $1.07 per weapon pull which is decent if you’re trying to get weapons. But keep in mind that you’re dropping a lot of money at once which will be up to you.

Coffee Aid Set
The Coffee Aid Set does not give you any character pulls and is only really good for Stamina. So, we recommend that you avoid getting it since, in our opinion, you should only really spend to get limited character pulls.
However, if you’re someone who grinds the game a lot, it’s not a bad option for the stamina. But besides that, you won’t find much value.

Training Sets
There are three training sets that you can purchase using Cognition Crystals. Here is a breakdown of the value you can get from them:
- Lvl. 10 Set
- x1 Platinum Ticket (with other materials and stamina items)
- One guaranteed pull per 60 Crystals is good value
- Lvl. 20 Set
- x1 Platinum Ticket (with other materials and stamina items)
- One guaranteed pull per 100 Crystals is decent
- Lvl. 30 Set
- x2 Platinum Tickets (with other materials and stamina items)
- Two guaranteed pulls per 240 Crystals is good value
However, you need to keep in mind that you will need to have Cognition Crystals for these purchases. In that sense, you’ll need to purchase Cognition Crystals or some other bundle in the game – meaning you’ll have to spend extra money to be able to purchase this.
You won’t be able to get these with the normal gems you get by playing the game. So, keep that in mind when you’re considering getting these Training Sets.

Premium & Premium+ Pass
P5X also features a premium battle pass that you can upgrade further to get the premium+ battle pass. The battle pass gives you a lot of value for money with items such as Arcana Cards, weapon selectors, skill level increases and Salamandar Coins.
However, we’ll be judging the value of the passes purely from how many character pulls you can get.
Purely from a pulls perspective, the value you get isn’t the best. Here is a breakdown of the values:
- Premium Pass
- $1.57 per character pull
- Premium+ Pass
- $2.50 per character pull
If you ask us, the Premium Pass gives the best value – not just because of more pulls but because of more useful items and materials. The Premium+ Pass gives you a lot of cosmetic items, which are great if you care about aesthetics in the game.
We do still think that both passes offer good value for the game in general. However, if you’re only interested in limited character pulls, you should look at other options! You can check out our f2p friendly guide for more insights!

Wrap Up
That’s everything you need to know for the shop value guide in Persona 5: The Phantom X. As you can see, the Shop certainly offers some value at various price points. It all really depends on how much money you’re willing to spend.
If you’re only after limited character pulls, we suggest taking the average prices per pull into account. Additionally, avoid taking Gold Tickets into account unless you’re a whale since you can easily get them as rewards. Of course, in your case, your luck could be different than ours.
