Soul Knight Prequel is a fun game that lets players enjoy a world where they can slay monsters and customize their characters. As they customize their characters and continue playing through the game, they will soon discover that you can have a companion by your side in the form of Pets.

These Pets can save your life and even fight by your side. But how do Pets work? Do they just follow you around like the cute animals they are? In this guide, I will show you how Pets work so you can have a complete understanding of this game mechanic.

Complete Pet Guide

Pets are not that hard to understand. However, if you are just blitzing through the game and come across a point where fighting alone isn’t enough, then you will need to get a Pet to help you out. Here are some things you should remember when going through with Pets.

The Bell Merchant

To get Pets, you will have to earn them by pulling them with the gacha system in the game. To do that, you will have to go to town and talk to the Bell Merchant.

There, he will let you hatch eggs to get Pets. You can hatch one at a time, or you can hatch 3 at a time. Either way, you will be able to get Pets that vary in rarity, stats, and types (dogs, cats, bears etc.)

When you hatch pets and don’t want to use them, you can have them stay with the Bell Merchant. He will also serve as a storage for all of the pets you don’t want to use.

Companion Skills

Now that you have a pet, let’s talk about Companion Skills. These are skills that your pet will be able to use to assist you in battle. Now, there are 4 different colors for the skills.

You won’t have to worry about switching between them, as the only difference is the elements they represent.

One element will do better against an enemy, while another will do better with a different enemy.

Changing skills is really great because you won’t have to change your pet to get a specific element. Instead, you can focus on building your relationship with your pet (which will be explained below).

However, bear in mind that some skills will take up more space. Under the symbols of the skills, you will notice that there are boxes underneath.

These boxes represent the amount of space they will take when equipped. If you equip a skill that has 4 boxes, then you can only equip a skill that will only take up one spot.

Pet Relationship Level

Pets in Soul Knight Prequel work like pets in real life: they will love you and be loyal to you the more you take better care of them.

In the case of Soul Knight Prequel, taking care of your pets raises the relationship level, which takes the form of hearts. To increase the relationship level, you can pet your pets or give them their favorite food.

Giving them their favorite food is the best way to raise the relationship level. While petting them also works, it won’t work if you spam it all the time. It will only work every now and then, as time passes by in the game.

The reason why it’s so important to raise the relationship level and get more hearts is because the hearts tie to how many skills you can equip.

If you have 2 hearts, you will unlock 2 spaces to equip a skill with 2 boxes. If you get 5 hearts, then you will unlock all of the spots that will let you equip more powerful skills in the game.

Pet Equipment & Accessories

Pets can also have equipment and accesorries put on them. This will increase their stats depending on what the equipment will increase. You can only equip a necklace and ring to the pet, so don’t think about giving them a legendary weapon to use.

They can also use Fatebounds, but they can’t use the ones that are meant for players. While pets can use necklaces and rings for players, they won’t be able to use the Fatebounds that are in the equipments.

You can check with Craftsmith Fariette and see if she has any necklaces and rings with Fatebounds that can be equipped on your pet. It’s the easiest way to determine if the Fatebound can be activated when equipped to your pet.

But Crafsmith Fariette isn’t the only place where you can get pet equipment from. Sometimes, bosses will be able to drop equipment that can be equipped on your pet.
