When you’re playing Stardew Valley, profit is usually the last thing that should be on your mind, but you just can’t shake off the paranoia of being poor once winter comes! So now you’re staying out late to fish to gather whatever bit of coin you can to buy more crops to go before the next season kicks in. If you’ve planned ahead earlier this wouldn’t have happened, but hey there’s always next year so to prepare you for that we’ll let you in on the definitive crop tier list that will help you decide which crops are worth growing!

Spring Crop Tier List | Stardew Valley

Multiple factors will be considered when ranking the following seeds and crops, if there’s something you fancy or blatantly spam per season to make artisan goods then prepare yourself as you will be seeing different results!

S Tier

  • Spring Seeds
  • Strawberry

Not a lot of crops can be the best, but for S-Tier it shouldn’t be a surprise to see both of these on the list, especially since you get an enormous amount of experience from the Spring Seeds alone at no cost whatsoever.

A Tier

  • Coffee Bean
  • Kale
  • Potato
  • Rhubarb

Most crops here sell for 70-1000 or even 2500 gold. A steep price at first for buying a single bean and not a lot of experience to offer but offers a lot of gold per day and extends all the way to summer. Plus you get 4 beans every two days after harvesting, which will eventually net you a lot of dollar bills that you can use to wipe away the tears you wept when you bought your first set of seeds.

B Tier

  • Cauliflower
  • Garlic
  • Green Beans

Most crops here can easily net you a quick profit, especially if you’re only a few days away from the next season and need something to fill the gaps in between. However, if you no longer need the experience and like the idea of patiently waiting for a giant cauliflower to pop up in your yard then this crop can easily be moved up to A-Tier.

C Tier

  • Parsnips

One of your first crops, if you’ve learned anything from video games then you know that any item you get at no cost at the very beginning has a decent chance of being ignored later on, and that goes for our dear Parsnip. It still looks nice on your farm and you don’t end up ruining yourself financially if you ever want to fill in a small patch of dirt nearby.

D Tier

  • Blue Jazz

Sells for 30 gold at Pierre’s and takes 7 days to grow. You don’t get much experience and doesn’t provide that much gold in return either. It’s good for decoration and for gifting to your neighbors if you don’t have anything special in mind.

F Tier

  • Rice
  • Tulips

Don’t look at this tier if you’re Asian! You end up losing 10 gold each time you happen to get a normal crop and it requires too much effort before any money comes rolling back in. Same goes for the tulips so if you only want your pots to look nice then go ahead and get those.

That’s all you need to know for spring, hopefully this tier list has helped you decide what to plant for this season. If you need more information about soil tilling then check out RoguePie’s video here:

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
