Tales of Tanorio just got released on Roblox, and for fans of the Pokemon franchise, you’ve got yourself a free to play alternative right here. With that said, though, not everyone may be familiar with the widely popular Pokemon games, so in this guide, we’ll be teaching you the basics on how you can get started in Tales of Tanorio!

Complete Beginner’s Guide (Shiny Hunting, Leveling, What to Do, & More)

First of all, after you get through the very lengthy opening cutscene, press the Tab button to open the menu and click on settings. Scroll down to the audio settings and turn off “Voice Acting”.

Unless you really want to listen to the in-game character’s voices, turning that setting off will drastically speed up the cutscenes. Trust me, it will be completely worth it, unless you can’t read faster than they talk.

This also speeds up the recovery process at Tanostations, because the nurses also have voiced dialogue that will play each time you go and heal up your team.

NOTE: As of writing this, the developers have released a hotfix so that your settings are saved when you leave, but check whether Voice Acting is off whenever you log back in just to be sure.

What to Keep in Mind When Starting

After the opening cutscene, you will eventually be tasked with going to the laboratory to meet the professor. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the game is using pretty much the exact same formula as the Pokemon games.

Here, you will be able to get your starter Tanorian. If you want to start rerolling for a shiny variant, we have a dedicated guide on how you can restart for a shiny starter that will help you out.

As for which starter to pick, feel free to just choose whichever one you think is cool. I personally went with the grass-type Rabush, and I’ve been doing completely fine so far.

The stadiums (this game’s version of Pokemon’s gyms) are still a work in progress, and only two of them are implemented at the moment, so you don’t have to worry too much about your choice since you’ll be way overleveled once the rest come out.

Tanorians to Look Out For

Once you get your starter, you’ll be given 10 tanocans (pokeballs, essentially). Use these in the first few patches of grass you see right outside of town to catch the Notent and Calypillar to immediately beef up your team.

Don’t be afraid to use them all up, since you can grind for a lot more of these due to a simple tip that I’ll be sharing a little further down this guide.

If you’re a completionist like me, you’re going to be spending a lot of time catching everything in each route anyway. And if you get really lucky, an extremely rare shiny might pop up as well, so don’t be afraid of the grass!

Now, if your team is full, your Tanorians will go to the PC, which can be found in any Tanostation. The first one you can visit is just at the edge of the starter town, and it has a large sign so you can’t miss it.

Story Progress

Aside from all of that, just follow the objectives on the lower right corner of the screen to progress the story and unlock more of the map.

After you beat the first stadium, you will get a medal (this game’s version of badges). This will allow you to use the Fast Travel feature in your Menu.

Use this to quickly reach Tanostations or simply get around to different routes to capture Tanorians that you haven’t caught yet.

Once you reach the end of current update’s content, you can also start doing Ruptures, which are essentially mini raids against powerful Tanorians. If I’m not mistaken, you can invite other players to help you, though I haven’t tried that myself.

Quick Leveling & Money Farming Tip

One thing I’ve noticed is that you can repeat tamer battles. Not all of them will offer to fight you again, but those that do will let you battle them endless times.

Because of this, you can very easily cheese the leveling process and get some money along the way by farming weak tamers.

If you want an example of this, the tamer wearing a purple jacket in the route on the way to Nikido City only uses an Astaroid. It almost never uses a damage-dealing move, so you can safely farm him for a lot of EXP and money without having to heal back up.

I got an entire team to around the level 30-35 range by just spamming him while I do something else in another monitor, so go nuts as long as you have the time.

And those are pretty much all of the tips we can give you at the moment, since the game is still very early in its lifespan. More content will be coming soon, but this should be more than enough to get you started on your journey!
