If we’re gonna be real, one of the best features that Tears of the Kingdom offers are The Depths. It’s safe to say that the place is really just intriguing and beautiful, until you get ambushed by Bokoblins. In this quest, we’ll exclusively wander our way below the ground to find a familiar face from The Breath of the Wild. If you do not want to get lost on your way down, this guide has got you covered!

Camera Work in The Depths Guide

If you want to unlock your Camera and Hyrule Compendium, you’ll want to finish this side quest. Also, besides making good use of Link’s camera, the quest offers as a good introductory to The Depths.

Here are the steps you’ll have to follow to complete the side quest:

  1. Go to the chasm located south of Lookout Landing.
  2. Jump into the chasm and into the Depths.
  3. Activate Nisoij and Iayusus Lightroot.
  4. Meet with Robbie in the campfire near Iayusus Lightroot.

Detailed Walkthrough for Camera Work in The Depths

To start the quest, you’ll have to go to Lookout Landing and talk to Robbie and Josha. Here are the coordinates for the location (-0250, 0129, 0018).

After a short cutscene, Robbie will disappear. You’ll have to find him in a chasm located south. The coordinates are (-0252, 0130, 0018).

Jump into the chasm. Make sure to glide if you don’t want to lose health.

After landing into The Depths, you’ll have to talk to Ponnick. He’ll give you hints on Robbie’s whereabouts. Most importantly, he’ll point you towards a nearby Lightroot, go check it out.

You’ll notice that the place around you is dark. There are a couple solutions for this: Brightbloom Seeds that you can throw into the ground to enlighten a small area, Glow Elixirs that you can use to give Link a temporary glow buff, a certain armor set that permanently gives a glow buff, and lastly Lightroots.

As mentioned before, Lightroots help a lot in getting rid of the dark. The first lightroot that you’ll be activating for this quest is the Nisoij Lightroot. After a short cutscene, you’ll enlighten an area on the map.

This will be your updated map in The Depths after activating the Nisoij Lightroot.

From your current location, make your way into the second one which is called Iayusus Lightroot. These are the coordinates (-0744, -0438, -0470). For reference of the exact location, check the image below.

Again, you’ll have to manually enlighten your way towards the second lightroot and remember to be careful of Bokoblins ambushes. If you are feeling like it, you can invade their camps and even mine Zonaite by hitting the glowing green blocks around the area.

After reaching Iayusus Lightroot, activate it to remove the darkness around the area.

With the darkness gone, you can now look for Robbie around the area. You can seem him near a campfire located in southeast of Iayusus Lightroot.

Talk to Robbie, he’ll point you towards a nearby statue and how to use your handy Camera. Also, he’ll unlock your Hyrule Compendium.

Take a picture of the statue and save it to your album. Afterwards, teleport back to Lookout Landing.

To finish the quest, you’ll have to show Josha the picture of the statue you took in The Depths. To do this, simply interact with Robbie and Josha. For your reward, you’ll get five zonaites besides the access to the Camera and Hyrule Compendium.
