Detailed Walkthrough for Gerudo’s Colossal Fossil

The first step is to get to the location of the quests. The exact coordinates are -3882, 3697, and 0222. To save travel time, we recommend fast traveling to the Isarak Shrine if completed since it is just east of the quest location.

Location of the quest

When you get closer to the location, you will see the entrance to a cave.

Entrance of the cave

Enter this cave, and a message will appear on the screen saying that you have discovered the Gerudo Great Skeleton. This confirms that you are on the right track.

Discovering the cave

When you emerge into the clearing in the cave, you will notice a light for a campfire towards the bottom right. Glide over to the campfire to interact with Loone and get started with the quest.

Gliding to the campfire

Upon talking with Loone, she will express her wish to see the parent and child Leviathans side by side.

Talking to Loone

Once you are done talking with Loone, you will want to stand next to the cliff right in front of the campfire. Look up and walk slightly toward the right until to see the roof of the parent Leviathan’s jaw. Use the ascend ability to get on top of the parent Leviathan assuming that you have it from completing the Gutanbac Shrine on the Great Sky Island.

Using Ascend ability

Next, walk across the parent leviathan’s skeleton, and you will see a weak rock formation on the ceiling.

The weak rock formation

Attach a bomb flower to your bow and shoot it anywhere at this formation to break it and release the body of the baby Leviathan.

Shooting the rocks with a bomb flower

Now glide down from the parent Leviathan’s skeleton, and you will find the baby Leviathan’s body. Using Ultrahand, carry it towards the campfire right next to the skull of the baby Leviathan. Make sure that the tail end of the skeleton is facing toward you since the forward end is where the skull needs to be attached.

Carrying the body back to the skull

Now, using Ultrahand, attach the skull of the baby Leviathan to its body, ensuring that the body is placed in the correct orientation.

Attaching the skull to the body

Once this is done, walk through the lower jaw bones of the parent leviathan, and you will find a pond shortly ahead.

Moving through the lower jaw

On the right-hand side of the pond are dirt mounds containing the baby Leviathan’s tail that is needed to complete the skeleton.

Reaching the small pond

In order to retrieve the tail, head towards the right-hand side of the pond, where you will see a fan trapped in a pile of dirt. Using Ultrahand dislodge this fan and carry it back towards the right-hand side of the pond. Rotate the fan to ensure it is facing the dirt instead of yourself.

Getting the fan

Now hit the fan with your weapon or shoot it using your bow to activate it. A battery symbol will appear at the bottom of the screen, indicating the time the fan has until it stops. Use the Ultahand ability to lift the fan and move it across the dirt piles to remove them.

Activating the fan

Once this is done, carry the tail back to the partially completed skeleton of the baby Leviathan and attach it to the skeleton using Ultrahand to complete it. At times, due to slightly incorrect attachments, the game doesn’t register the skeleton as being completed. If so, make sure that the body is correctly oriented and try reattaching the head and the tail again.

Carrying the tail back to the skeleton

Talk to Loone to complete the quest and receive the Purple Rupee as the reward.

Completing the quest

This concludes Gerudo’s Colossal Fossil quest guide. It is considered difficult due to the many steps involved, but if you follow this guide, you should have no problems. We would love to hear from you in the comments if you have any questions or critiques.
