People have the strangest requests sometimes in Tears of the Kingdom. But then again, they wouldn’t count as side quests if they weren’t. Malena is one of those strange peoples as her request comes in the form of taking down a Flame Gleeok for medicine.
But it’s not entirely her fault for wanting to have a good time. Besides, the cure lies within a Gleeok’s insides so there’s still hope. In this guide, you’ll be saving her marriage by procuring some guts, as grizzly as it would sound. You’ll be doing the locals a favor anyway so better get to it!
Gleeok Guts Side Quest
The Flame Gleeok can be found hanging around the Spectacle Rock, here are the coordinates (-2171, -2613, 0365). It’s the same place you took a photo of for Piaffe’s stable. Use the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower to get to Spectacle Rock faster. You can get to Malena by using the Turakamik Shrine. Their location is only opposite of the Gerudo Canyon Stable.
Dissecting a Flame Gleeok
Make your way to Spectacle Rock to begin throwing down with the Flame Gleeok. The battle can last up to ten minutes, but it’s just a matter of rinse and repeat once you become well acquainted with its moveset and weaknesses. The fight can be made easier as well if you have an armor set that increases your attack power, like the Fierce Deity Set.
When the beast is Airborne, make use of ranged attacks and hit the three heads. The Gleeok will fall to the ground and remain stunned. This leaves the beast open to any attack so get as many hits in before it flies up again. To increase your chances of hitting the Gleeok, use some Keese Eyeballs. They give plus one damage and also have the ability to home in on your target.
If the Gleeok has 25% energy left it will start lobbing bigger fireballs at you and will also gain even more altitude while fighting. Use the spectacle rock for cover as that will negate the heatwave that will come hurdling towards you completely. The glider will help you catch up to it however. Get a better shot at the Gleeok while in mid-air by using Bullet Time.
One more thing, be sure to save your progress before fighting the Flame Gleeok. The guts dropping won’t always be guaranteed unless you’re fighting a King Gleeok.
And that’s how you get Gleeok Guts for Malena’s side quest. Head back to her tent using the Turakamik Shrine. Hand over your guts to get a Gold Rupee in return and you can go your separate ways after exchanging some dialog!
