The Wandering Village: Beginner’s Guide

Tips & Tricks that will keep you and Onbu alive!

The Wandering Village: Beginner's Guide

The Wandering Village is a simulation game about building a city on the back of a huge creature that moves around. Build your settlement and work together with the colossus to help each other. Will you be able to stay alive together in this harsh but beautiful post-apocalyptic world where plants are poisonous? We will be giving you a Complete Beginner’s Guide on how to better survive in The Wandering Village. Let’s get started.

Beginner’s Guide – The Wandering Village

The Wandering Village is a very interesting but also very punishing type of game. There are certainly a lot of things to take care of, but these are the things that are very dangerous and you might not expect to face them.

Beware of Toxic Areas

You’ll also have to stay alive in different biomes and through different events. Keeping everyone alive is not an easy job. You would think that you are doing okay a few times because your village is growing well as Onbu moved along. Along the way, you will have picked up a few nomads, which makes your village bigger.

Then, the poisonous spores will start growing on Onbu’s back and make him sick. On the back of the creature, the poisonous spores stand out because they are blue. You can send your villagers to clean up the toxic spores, but be careful: if you haven’t built the village doctor’s building, they will also get sick and die.

Keep Looking For Resources on Onbu’s Back

On the creature’s back, trees grow, and there are stones and other building materials to gather. You will also look into some buildings that you can put near the head of Onbu to talk to the creature. You will also make choices, like which path Onbu will take on the map, and take care of Onbu by feeding him.

You will constantly be sending your scavengers far away from Onbu to look for valuable supplies. But sometimes you’ll look so far away that you’ll actually forget that you have very good items nearby too. So keep a lookout and always look the resources on Onbu’s Back first. Only after you’ve gotten everything from here you’ll be able to send expeditions far away.

Keeping An Eye Out On The Needs

In other words, you’ll want to Survive. We mean, that is the whole of every game, isn’t it?

To stay alive in this post-apocalyptic world, you must build a village on top of the giant wandering creature and work with it to stay alive. Living on the back of a living, breathing animal has its challenges, though. Helping the creature stay healthy, building trust, and keeping everyone alive are all challenges.

You will want to not focus on certain resources and things. The beauty of The Wandering Village is that it is very unpredictable. You can be doing very well and then out of nowhere desert after desert after desert. You will be finding yourself without some resources and materials most of the time. So keep yourself stacked with as much as possible.

Keep Everybody Happy

First of all, you are a guest on Onbu’s back. This means that Onbu needs to be satisfied at all times. We have already made a guide that you can check out here- How to Gain Onbu’s Trust. You will find out everything that you’ll need to know about keeping Onbu happy.

When it comes to the Villagers though, it is a whole different story. The best way to tell if your Villagers’ Needs are being met is by their Happiness, which is always shown by the face in the upper right corner of the screen. If someone is smiling or happy, it means they are happy and most of their needs are being met. A more neutral, sad, or angry expression shows that happiness is low and that there are several needs that need to be met right away.

Taking care of the needs of Villagers isn’t too hard, though. In general, you’ll just have to do whatever you can to make sure they have food, a place to sleep, and proper care in toxic environments. This means giving them the buildings, materials, and food they need to keep your village growing and thriving, as well as building Village Doctor huts and Herbalist buildings that can handle things like treating poisoning and sickness.

Water

You can never have enough Water. You’d think that this item is very easy to come by, but as you progress through the game you’ll be going through harsher and harsher environments. This means that even Water will be scarce and hard to get.

That is why we recommend that you stock up on Water as much as possible. To do this we recommend checking out our guide about it – How to Get Water.

Simply build the buildings that give you Water and make sure that you always have a Cactus farm available. Cactus will provide you with water even if you are in closed-off deserts with extremely high temperatures. You will thank us later.

That is everything that you’ll need to know in order to better survive in this game. We hope that this beginner’s guide to The Wandering Village will help you go through the game much easier without having the need to restart it every 15 minutes. Good luck!
