One of the oldest genres out there in video game history are Action RPGs, and we’ve come through a lot since the very first Diablo games. Now we have a lot of other ARPG titles out there, like Path of Exile, Grim Dawn and many more. One of the newest addition to the genre is Torchlight Infinite, the next game to the well-beloved Torchlight series. Despite having some rough spots with old fans being irked by the new direction the game is taking, the core gameplay remains the same like any other ARPG, and in this guide we’ll show you all the crafting in the game.
Complete Crafting Guide For Torchlight Infinite
In Torchlight infinite there’s plenty of ways to get stronger in the game, the main way of doing so is through your gear of course. Each piece of gear has an Energy cap and it adds to your total Energy cap when equipped. So, if you’re wearing 5 pieces of gear with 10 energy, you have an energy cap of 50.
Gear Empowerment
So why is raising your energy cap important? Well, you’ll need energy cap to add more bonuses to your skills. Each skill can have multiple bonuses, and each skill uses up your energy cap when you add more of the bonuses.
So, when you loot better items as you go through the game, you’ll also get better gear and a bigger Energy cap. If you want to increase the energy cap of an item you can use Gear Empowerment. In the Gear Empowerment screen when you select an item it will show the Energy cap of that item as well as the possible energy cap below. So, if you refine an item, the energy cap changes to a random number from the shown set.
Enchanting
Each piece of gear can also have an affix, basically small bonuses in the gear like extra fire damage or it adds to your attributes and so on. Each gear can have a total of 6 Affixes and if you have one that’s below that you can then enchant it. Enchanting will let you pick ONE affix to add to the piece of gear, you can only add one though and if you try to enchant the item again it will just replace the previous enchantment.
Enchanting an item also blocks it from being crafted, so keep that in mind!
Crafting
Crafting is like Enchanting, but instead of adding on affix you instead change a random affix in the gear to a completely new one. The randomness can be limited to certain sets but it will always be random within that set, unlike enchanting. Also, if you craft an affix into a piece of gear it will replace a random affix that gear already has.
Crafting is usually done in end game when you have plenty of materials to try and roll for the affixes you want. It’s all RNG though so keep that in mind!
