There are some tough maps that you can try to beat in Tower Defense X and most of them are easier with friends. Sometimes, you don’t have friends to play though.
You don’t want to take your chances with random players. Playing these maps solo can be challenging, but they are possible as long as you know what you’re doing.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can do the Christmas Event in Tower Defense X solo in Nightmare mode. Now, let’s see what we’ll need to do to beat it alone!
Christmas Event Solo Nightmare Guide
This guide will show you how you can beat Santa’s Stronghold in Nightmare mode. Doing this solo will need you to micro a bunch at the early levels so keep that in mind.
Here are the towers you’ll need to beat this map in Nightmare:
- John
- Artillery
- EDJ
- Juggernaut
- Barracks
- Railgunner
SIDE NOTE: Most of these towers are some of the best ones in the game with the Railgunner being the newest one. If you want to know more on what to pick, then here’s a tier list for the best towers in Tower Defense X!
Wave 1 – 5
You’ll start by placing 3 Barracks so that they’ll take care of stragglers in the early waves. Then, you’ll want to place 3 Johns in the area shown below. Make sure to upgrade each of them to 2-2 before adding the next one.
Expect to take damage in the early waves but don’t panic. This will be the only time you’ll take damage if done right. At around Wave 5, you should be able to upgrade the Johns to 3-2.
Wave 6 – 10
This is where the micro can get extensive. Place an Artillery tower in the area shown below. You’ll need to manually aim this tower to do as much damage to as many enemies as possible. Use it to soften up the enemies and let the Johns finish them.
Upgrade one of the barracks to a 0-3. Keep using and upgrading the Artillery to 3-2. Then, place another John and upgrade it to 3-2 just like the rest.
At Wave 10, a miniboss will spawn, use the Artillery to target it, and damage it before it gets to the Johns. Upgrade the Artillery to 4-2 at this point and do the same for the Johns.
Wave 11 – 15
Upgrade the second barracks to 4-2 and then do the same for the third. Keep using the artillery tower and manually aiming it at clusters of enemies or strong ones while you’re upgrading the barracks. Upgrade the first barracks to 0-4.
Finally, at around Wave 12, you should be able to upgrade the artillery to 5-2. Once you’ve done that place an EDJ in the area shown below and upgrade it to 0-4.
Then, upgrade a Juggernaut next to the EDJ to 2-4. Place another one and upgrade it to 2-3. After that, upgrade the EDJ to 0-5 then upgrade the Juggernaut to 2-4.
Afterwards, place another EDJ next to the first one and upgrade it to 3-2. Add another 2-2 Juggernaut place another Artillery tower on the area shown below and upgrade it to 3-1. Place another one next to it.
At Wave 15, add another 2-2 Juggernaut. Upgrade the second Artillery to 5-2 and do the same for the third one.
Wave 16 – 18
Start upgrading the 2-2 Juggernauts to 2-4 and add 3 more following the same upgrade paths. Then, upgrade the first Juggernaut to 2-5.
When you reach wave 17, add a 5-2 John near the EDJs and another 5-2 Artillery tower. At wave 18, add another 2-4 Juggernaut and a 5-2 John and max out the EDJs upgrade paths. Now, start upgrading the Juggernauts to 2-5.
Wave 19 (Final)
Before the wave starts, place basic Johns on the entrance to aggro the boss’ attacks. Then, keep adding 5-2 Johns to the blob near the entrance while the boss moves around it.
Place a 0-5 EDJ near the bridge then start placing 2-5 Railgunners near it. Start selling the towers that can’t shoot the boss anymore as it goes through the path.
Place 2-4 Juggernauts in the area where you place the first 3 Johns along with a 0-5 EDJ.
On the other side of the bridge place another 0-5 EDJ and then add a couple of 2-5 Juggernauts while you sell the other towers. Keep adding 2-5 Railgunners near the start of the bridge.
When the boss starts reaching the end of the bridge, place more 2-5 Juggernauts on the other side, do this until the boss is dead.
Then, place Johns near the last two minibosses that wave spawns to stall them. Place a 2-5 Artillery at the end of the bridge to soften them up before the rest of your towers finish the level!
That’s how you can solo the Christmas Event in Tower Defense X. It’s a bit micro-heavy but it is possible!
