Type Soul just dropped a brand-new update out of nowhere (seriously, a random Tuesday, midweek update, no warning). But hey, we’re not complaining, because it brought in one of the coolest weapons yet: Fulmen. What makes Fulmen stand out is that it’s a universal weapon. Unlike most weapons that are locked to specific races, Fulmen can be used by Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Quincies, as long as you’ve got the right element unlocked. In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to unlock Fulmen, what makes it unique, its abilities, and whether it’s worth grinding for.
How To Get Fulmen Guide
Fulmen is the newest universal lightning weapon which you can get from the weapon reroll system in Type Soul. It’s tied directly to certain elemental subclasses, so not every build can use it. According to the patch notes, Fulmen works with:
- Lightning Shikai (Soul Reapers)
- Storm Res (Arrancars)
- Thunderbolt Schrift (Quincies)
That means if you’ve unlocked any one of these, you’ll be able to equip and use Fulmen.

Requirements Before Getting Fulmen
Before you even start rerolling, you need the correct element unlocked for your race:
- Soul Reapers → Lightning Shikai
- Arrancars → Storm Res
- Quincies → Thunderbolt Schrift
Once that’s out of the way, the only thing left is to reroll your weapon until you get Fulmen.
- Fulmen is a Legendary (possibly Mythical) weapon.
- It’s not item-locked, so you don’t need anything fancy beyond rerolls.
- Just keep rerolling until it drops.
💡Tip: If you’re rolling as an Arrancar or Quincy, make sure to use Hollow Boxes or Spirit Boxes instead of normal rerolls. You’ll get these often from Ranked, and it’ll save you resources in the long run.

Fulmen Showcase & Abilities
Now for the fun part, how Fulmen actually performs in combat.
- M1 Attacks → Standard swings, nothing flashy, but surprisingly strong.
- Crit Attack → A clean lightning strike that also guard breaks. With its low cooldown, this is already really solid.
- Double Crit Mechanic → If you land three consecutive hits, you unlock a secondary crit that unleashes a massive thunderstorm. It looks insane, and when it connects, it melts.
The catch? The thunderstorm crit can’t be aimed, which is super frustrating. A lot of players complain it goes completely off-target, and honestly, they’re right—it feels buggy.
Current Issues With Fulmen
As dope as Fulmen is, it’s still a little rough around the edges. Some known issues include:
- Random kicks for “illegal items.”
- Fulmen sometimes gets voided/removed from players’ inventories.
- The thunderstorm crit doesn’t always register properly.
If the devs patch these bugs, Fulmen could easily be one of the strongest and flashiest weapons in the game right now.
Final Thoughts
To sum it up:
- Works for all three races (Soul Reaper, Arrancar, Quincy).
- Abilities are the same for everyone, only the color changes depending on your race.
- It’s flashy, powerful, and fun to use, even if it’s buggy at the moment.
If you’re running a lightning-based subclass, Fulmen is absolutely worth grinding for. Between the guard-breaking crits, low cooldowns, and busted M1s, it can really shine in Ranked once you master its timing.
So yeah, get your element, start rerolling, and good luck landing Fulmen. It’s a grind, but it’s worth it. ⚡Up next, if you’re looking to take your build to the next level, make sure to check out my guide on how to get the Devil Trigger in Type Soul. It’s another universal weapon that works for Arrancar, Soul Reaper, and Quincy (sorry Fullbringers, you’re locked out since your weapons are tied to elemental powers).
