So yeah, it’s finally confirmed, the full Hellverse questline is out in TYPE://SOUL, and players are unlocking True Bankai, Segunda Etapa, and Sklaverei like crazy. One of my friends literally just popped his True Bankai, sent me a clip of the transformation, and bro… 🔥 it looks insane. If you want to unlock your own True Form and you’re not trying to dig through 50 different Discord threads to figure it out, I got you. This guide breaks it all down step-by-step, and I’ll even toss in some personal tips (and rants) to make the whole thing smoother.

How To Get True Bankai, Segunda & Sklaverei Fast

True Bankai (Soul Reaper), Segunda (Arrancar), and Sklaverei (Quincy) are advanced transformations unlocked after completing the entire Hellverse questline, then AFKing for 12 hours. (Yes, really.)

These true modes let you:

  • Pop Ctrl + J for a second transformation
  • Use stronger and spammy versions of your existing kit
  • Flex on the whole server with an exclusive domain

But there’s a lot of steps, and some unexpected bugs, so let’s walk through it properly.

🎥 Watch: True Bankai in Type Soul – Watch the full transformation and learn how to unlock your True Bankai step-by-step!

Step 1: Finish the Hellverse Questline

To unlock your true form, you need to complete everything in Hell, from the Highway to:

You’ll start by doing basic mob quests, killing hollows, and working your way up the chain of bosses. If you get stuck along the way, I’ve got separate guides for each layer that break everything down step-by-step, just click the links above!

This is the longest part of the grind, but if you can clear it, you’re almost there.

Step 2: Return to Ring 1

Once you’ve finished the Library puzzle, head back to Ring 1 using your Hollow Ring Key and Library Gate.

  • When you arrive, a hidden 12-hour timer starts.
  • You need to stay in Hell for 12 in-game hours, this can be AFK, but with conditions.

The 12-hour timer only starts after you get the Library Gate. Once you have it, head back to Ring 1—that’s when the AFK timer begins.

Step 3: AFK (But Not Too Hard)

AFKing isn’t as easy as it sounds:

  • If you get hit by a raid, you might get kicked from the server.
  • If you disconnect or crash, your timer won’t reset, but you’ll need to rejoin and wait out the rest.

Yes, the hours accumulate. No, dying doesn’t reset it. Just don’t get killed by other players, or you might risk losing time or progress.

After about 12 hours (some people report 12 hours + 20 mins), you’ll get a dialogue message that says:

“Figure it out.”

Once you see that, you’re ready for the final step.

One last thing. Figure it out. dialogue to get True Bankai, Segunda & Sklaverei in Type Soul.

Step 4: Get Knocked to 0 HP

The moment you see that mysterious dialogue, let any NPC or mob kill you.

As soon as you hit zero HP, your True Form will auto-pop and unlock permanently.

Use Ctrl + J anytime to transform into your true version.

Here’s a video showing how getting knocked to 0 HP unlocks True Bankai, Segunda, & Sklaverei in Type Soul — this is the final step after the AFK grind.

PSA: “Mode Disabled Until You Finish Quest”

If you’re getting this error when trying to pop your form, here’s why:

  • In Ring 1, the boss steals your mode with a medallion.
  • In Ring 2, you’re supposed to reclaim it by defeating the boss and talking to Blair.
  • If you skipped Ring 2 (or helped someone else with it before finishing your own), your mode might be softlocked until you go back and complete that part.

Just finish Ring 2 normally, talk to Blair, and your form should unseal.

TL;DR – Speedrun Summary

Here’s the short version of how I unlocked my True Zongetsu Bankai:

  • Ring 1: Kill mobs → Boss 1 steals your Bankai
  • Ring 2: Beat Owl boss → Talk to Blair to reclaim form
  • Ring 3: Fight Boss #3 → Maze → Library puzzle
  • Go back to Ring 1
  • AFK in Hell for 12 hours (check in during raids)
  • See “Figure it out.” dialogue
  • Get knocked to 0 HP → Auto-pop True Form
  • Ctrl + J to use it. Done.

And yes, the final boss of this entire arc… is the AFK timer.

Thoughts on True Bankai Zongetsu (Mini Review)

After all that grind, I popped my True Bankai and… It’s kinda mid.

  • You get faster cooldowns.
  • You can spam moves like Getsuga Tensho and G on repeat.
  • It’s basically what Ichigo does in the anime—just spam slash everything.

So yeah, it’s accurate. But it’s also kinda underwhelming. No special cutscene, no extra moves, no huge stat boosts.

I feel like we could’ve gotten:

  • Getsuga Jōshō
  • Gran Rey Getsuga
  • A little Orehime aura to heal yourself
  • Or literally any special mechanic to make it feel “final form” worthy.

Instead, Zongetsu got the most barebones TR of them all, while others like Theater go crazy.

Wrap-Up (& Final Rant, lol)

Let’s be real, AFKing for 12 hours to unlock something isn’t fun. It’s not even challenging. It’s just a weird way to keep players online longer. And while the journey through Hell was honestly fun (minus a few bugs), True Forms need more love. Especially when they’re meant to be endgame rewards.

That said… I still enjoyed the grind. Even if I did cheese Boss #2 hard. Up next, if you’re also looking to unlock Ancient Vasto, check out my guide covering all Husk locations, how to unlock it, and everything I’ve learned about it so far.
