With the recent major update of Type Soul, thousands of players are flocking to check out what’s new and what has been reworked in the game. One of the major changes in recent times has been the skill tree in the game, which even veterans might be a little confused by. Here is a quick guide on what you need to know about it in the current version of Type Soul!
Updated Skill Tree Guide
With all of the balance changes over time, one can expect that certain skill trees will fall out of favor while others will rise to the top as updates roll out.
Having said all that, some of these used to be really strong and have since been toned down. Even if you’re an old player, some of the information here might prove useful if you are building your character up.
Skill Tree #1 – Hakuda
What used to be considered an overpowered skill tree, Hakuda has since undergone a few balance changes that made it weaker than before. With that said, it is still a pretty formidable choice for skilled players.
This is a double-edged sword, though, as good players can also easily counter your moves. This applies to a lot of other trees, however, so that shouldn’t really be a knock on it.
Its main drawback is that you need to be in close range to execute your moves, which will mostly revolve around launching and air combos.
This also means that you will essentially be at a disadvantage against skilled individuals who are using ranged abilities, and you’ll need to find ways to close the gap.
Skill Tree #2 – Kendo
Kendo, as the name implies, is a skill tree that is centered around sword attacks. It is fairly basic yet versatile, as it has both melee and ranged options.
It is a great option for new players due to its simplicity and how easy it is to learn. Its moves overall are pretty decent, even if a lot of them aren’t really anything that special as far as we know.
One ability of note here is Mortal Ties, which is both a gap closer and a debuffing attack that reduces the target’s healing capabilities by a significant margin.
Skill Tree #3 – Kido
Kido is a tough one to talk about due to how it will vary depending on your race, but most of them are considered to be pretty decent and incredibly annoying to play against when used right.
In general, Arrancar Kido is one of the most annoying ones you can encounter in the game. It has a versatile set of abilities with both close range and far reaching moves, and it has a lot of combo potential.
Quincy Kido is another incredibly versatile set of skills that give you tools for zoning and ranged combat. It also does a lot of damage if you can land your moves, and despite recent nerfs, it is still a very formidable skill tree choice.
Shinigami / Soul Reaper Kido is pretty “meh” compared to the others as far as the general playerbase’s opinions go. It can still be good in the right hands, but it is often outclassed by all of the other builds.
Skill Tree #4 – Healing
The Healing skill tree is, obviously, mainly all about regeneration and defense. It has great supporting capabilities that makes it a great skill tree to choose if you’re playing with friends.
Some skilled players can make a main medic build work for combat, but its abilities are typically paired with other skill sets’ stuff, with this one acting as a secondary tree.
There’s not much to say about this other than that it is a pretty funny choice if you want to annoy your opponents into fighting a long battle of attrition. You might just die of boredom if you play that way, though.
Skill Tree #5 – Speed
The Speed skill tree is considered by some players to be one of the strongest ones in the game in its current state. It has a lot of mobility and devastating short range moves.
Its moves have a lot of combo potential that good players can easily abuse to take down enemies swiftly and with ease. With that said, you can still be countered by skilled individuals, but doing so is easier said than done.
Most people actually pair this with a few Healing skills, though it’s up to you to start experimenting with what builds work for your own playstyle.
And those are all of the skill trees in the game right now, as well as all of the basics you need to know about them! While you’re here, go and check out our guide on how to use custom keybinds in Type Soul to further personalize your setup!
