If you are coming back to Valheim because of its very big update called Mistlands, you will need to learn a couple of new things when it comes to fishing because it is entirely different from before. In this guide, we shall be teaching you everything that you need to know about it. Let’s get started.
How To Fish – Valheim Mistlands
As you might notice right now since the new update, there is a fishing skill that you are able to actually level up and progress through the skills bar menu. As you level up this skill it will improve your ability to reel in larger and larger fish.
You will need to be starting out in the basic area and catch basic fish in order to be able to actually level it up and progress with it.
As always, you are looking for that big splash from the fishing rod. From there, you will need to right–click to reel in the line and you can notice that you will need to have still a very good amount of Stamina to be able to pull them in.
You will need to have some pretty good food equipped to do this correctly and then you will need bait. Sometimes even the basic bait that you can get from Haldor is enough.
New Fishing Baits
Since the latest patch, there are a total of 9 new baits that you can use that are more or less different from each other in terms of how good and big fish you can actually catch. These are all of them:
- Hot Fishing Bait – hotter climates
- Cold Fishing Bais – colder climates
- Frosty Fishing Bait – mountain biome
- Mossy Fishing Bait – dark forest area
- Misty Fishing Bait – mistlands
- Heavy Fishing Bait – deep sea fishing
- Stingy Fishing Bait – plains area
- Sticky Fishing Bait – swamp area
- Basic Bait
All of them will require something different in terms of what you will need to construct them.
The fishing AI is very different and improved on so many levels. It seems as it is vastly improved but the basics still work fine. Throw in the reel as far as possible, take the best fishing rod for the area, and just reel in when the fish catch the rod.
