Warframe – Banshee’s Abilities & Augments Explained

The Banshee is a solid warframe, but it’s abilities aren’t the most clear cut. In fact, if you did what some folks do and blaze through without reading all the details in the instructions, you may miss what some of these abilities can do. You need to know that to know what these abilities do to bring the Banshee to it’s full potential.

Explaining Abilities and Augments of Warframe Banshee

The Banshee has a list of (4) different abilities, and a passive ability, which can all be used to let the Banshee control the battlefield.

Ability: Passive Silencer.

Our first ability is a passive, always on ability is that every weapon you have has a silencer on it. Despite the odd choice to still have banshee make the shooting sounds as if they do not, testing shows that you can fire off the banshee’s rounds point blank to an enemy and they will not hear you, though they may see you.

Ability: Sonic Boom

Our first activated ability is “Sonic Boom”. A straightforward ability, Sonic Boom creates a cone like wave of force that knock enemies back and knocked down. It’s a great panic button ability to get people off of you.

I also recommend picking up the Sonic Fracture Augument, which will reduce enemy armor by a incredible 70%. With additional power augments, it’s even possible to completely wipe out all enemy shields with each blast.

Ability: Sonar

Banshee’s second ability is called Sonar. Like it’s name sake, Sonar sends out a ping that hits every enemy around you at a wide range. That’s about where the similarities stop, as you’ll notice that enemies hit by the Sonar ping gain a small pink target on their body where the ping touched them.

If video games have taught us anything, it’s “Shoot the glowing spot to do extra damage” and the truism works here. Striking the glowing portion of your enemies with any weapon or ability will do a impressive 5 times damage to your opponent! Even cooler, these glowing points stack for multiplicities of damage!

It’s recommended to combine it with Resonance, a Sonar Augment which allows these points to spread to nearby enemies if you kill an enemy before your Sonar’s time has expired.

Ability: Silence

Silence harkens to magic wielders in other games, and it should be a quick clue to what this ability does. When Silence is used on an opponent, that opponent becomes unable to use it’s abilities for the duration of the effect.

The effect is invisible, but has a fair bit of range. Classically, enemies under the effect of silence also cannot hear gunshots. While this effect is of course redundant for Banshee thanks to their passive ability, this can help their allies in stealth runs.

Them not being able to hear you is awesome, them not being able to hear your entire crew is even better. Notably, when you hit enemies with silence there is a 2 second stun period, which for smaller opponents may be worth it all by itself. Add the Savage Silence Augment which allows you to trigger a 300% damage finisher during that stun time for just simply obscene amounts of damage.

Ability: SoundQuake

Sound Quake. Sound Quake, we where doing so good. Apparently, they wanted to give banshee an ability you could swap out without feeling bad about, cause Sound Quake seems designed to be given to someone else like a white elephant gift. You lock yourself in place to do a rattling sort of damage to lower level enemies that doesn’t seem to do much at all.

Other than let you stand in place and get shot until you die. Not even it’s Augument, Resonating Quake which changes it from a constant to a burst seems to help at all.

The new burst effect claims “20x” damage at epicenter, but said epicenter is very small, and enemies only a couple feet away will take almost no damage at all. Even then, the max damage version just isn’t that impressive. But they can’t all be winners.
