In Wayfinder, players can become Wayfinders and can choose their path, as well as their playstyle. You’ll be fighting entities that have taken over the world either on your own or with a group of friends. For beginners, selecting a weapon class is a difficult decision. Hence, here’s a complete guide on daggers to help you decide whether or not they are worth using.
Complete Dagger Guide
This guide will be divided into multiple sections, with each one focusing on the different abilities that daggers possess.
Heat of Battle
The first ability that daggers have is something called the Heat of Battle. This is a very powerful combo multiplier ability that increases your damage depending on the combo count. You will start from 100% damage, and within 20 hits, you can reach a 300% damage bonus.
This ability is unique to daggers since other weapons can only achieve a 2x multiplier as compared to the 3x multiplier that daggers can have.
Parry
The next unique ability that daggers have is the Parry. This is a very powerful ability that allows you to negate damage completely by avoiding the attack.
There is quite a generous parry window of around 0.5 seconds to avoid the hit. This window is indicated by the purple lightning-like indicators, as shown in the image below.
The best part of parrying is that it will allow you to unleash a devastating counterattack. This counterattack will also contribute to your Heat of Battle to make sure your multiplier is not reset.
Moreover, parrying requires the same amount of stamina as dodging. Hence, if you master parrying, then this will definitely be an improvement over dodging.
Flourish System
The big selling point of daggers is the unique Flourish System that they have. This is indicated by the three small pips on the bottom right of your screen.
Each pip refers to one Flourish Point and allows you to perform certain actions. You will gain one pip point on the fourth hit of each attack, making these relatively common.
These pips are important since the heavy attacks of daggers deal little to no damage. However, with these Flourish Points, you can unleash devastating heavy attacks to deal tons of damage. One Flourish Point will allow you to deal moderate damage through a special attack.
Moreover, it will grant you a small window of invulnerability. Lastly, all of this will be accompanied by a 15-second weapon Power buff.
With two Flourish Points, you can unleash a series of powerful direct attacks that are also accompanied by a short window of invulnerability.
Moreover, this also refreshes the weapon buff obtained from the one Flourish Point attack. However, this refresh was recently bugged so it might be possible that it isn’t refreshed.
Saving the best for the last, we have the ability of the three Flourish Points. This will allow you to unleash a very powerful area attack that has invulnerability throughout the entire duration of the attack.
Moreover, this will also refresh the weapon attack buff. If you are able to master parrying alongside the invulnerability from these points, you will essentially take no damage and be unkillable.
Blade Dance
The final unique mechanic that daggers have is this ability called the Blade Dance. This is indicated by the Sword icon that is next to the Flourish Point pips.
This sword is essentially filled up whenever you use your Flourish Points. Once full this ability can be triggered to unleash your weapon’s special attack.
However, this sword will also turn red, indicating that you are in Blade Dance mode, meaning all of your previous buffs will be overwritten.
During this mode, every single hit with your daggers will count as two attacks. This will also be applicable to the Heat of Battle mechanics, meaning that you will reach the 3x multiplier much faster.
Lastly, it will also count towards building up your Flourish Points twice as fast due to each hit counting as two attacks. This will turn your character into a lethal weapon that can dish out tremendous amounts of damage within a short period.
Daggers are a very high-risk, high-reward weapon since their usefulness lies in how you use their abilities. We hope that this guide for daggers was helpful to you. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or suggestions for future content.
